Metro Protests Case: Precautionary measures of Haytham Mohamadeen, Abeer Hisham, and Youssef Ahmed extended

19 November 2018

North Cairo Criminal Court extended the Precautionary measures of labor lawyer Haytham Mohamadeen, Abeer Hisham, and Youssef Ahmed for 45 days pending case 718/2018 State Security known as “Metro Protests Case”.

Mohamadeen, who is also a member of the Revolutionary Socialists Movement, and the other two defendants are accused of affiliation with a terrorist group. Additionally, they are charged with calling for and participating in unauthorized protests objecting to the latest increase in Cairo Metro’s fare.

Police forces had arrested Mohamadeen from his home in Suff district, Giza, early Friday May 18, after raiding the house. 

10 October 2018

Giza Criminal Court ordered the conditional release of labor lawyer Haytham Mohamadeen, Abeer Hisham, and Youssef Ahmed pending lawsuit 718/2018 State Security.

Mohamadeen, who is also a member of the Revolutionary Socialists Movement, and the other two defendants are accused of affiliation with a terrorist group. Additionally, they are charged with calling for and participating in unauthorized protests objecting to the latest increase in Cairo Metro’s fare.

State Security Prosecutor appealed to Giza Criminal Court’s decision to conditionally release labor lawyer Haytham Mohamadeen, Abeer Hisham, and Youssef Ahmed pending lawsuit 718/2018 State Security.

Mohamadeen, who is also a member of the Revolutionary Socialists Movement, and the other two defendants are accused of affiliation with a terrorist group. The prosecutor also extended the detention of Abeer Hisham for 15 days pending the same case.

The two defendants are accused of the affiliation with a terrorist group along with calling for and participating in unauthorized protests objecting to the hike in Cairo Metro’s fare.
