Pretrial Detention of Journalist Islam Farahat Continues Despite of His Medical Condition

Zagazig Criminal Court extended the pretrial detention of Islam Farahat, journalist at Masr Al-Arabia website, for 45 days pending investigations in case 1600/2018 state security.
Remanding Farahat is affecting is health condition as he is suffering from heart diseases and he must undergo a heart surgery as soon as possible, said Abel Aziz Youssef, lawyer at the Association for Freedom of Thoughts and Expression.
The journalist has been held in custody since June as he is charged with joining a terrorist group and possessing illegal publications.
