Today, Cairo Criminal Court (Circuit 27 South) decided to refer lawsuit No. 16036 of 2021 (1st settlement misdemeanor), registered under No. 18 of 2021 (Cairo Appeal), filed against Ayman Mansour Nada, the head of the radio and television department at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication, to the Court of Appeal to be examined before another circuit.

The court’s decision to refer the lawsuit comes due to the fact that the same court had previously issued a verdict against Nada to a suspended one-year prison sentence pending another lawsuit with similar charges to the current lawsuit, which is lawsuit No. 9840 of 2021 (Fifth Settlement Misdemeanour), which the court considered a disclosure of its opinion in the lawsuit.

The prosecution charged Nada with insulting the Egyptian media, insulting Karam Gaber, head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, and using his Facebook account to commit these crimes.

24 April 2022  “Criminal Court examines new lawsuit against Ayman Mansour Nada

tomorrow”

On Sunday, April 24, The Criminal Court decided to adjourn the hearing of lawsuit No. 16036 of 2021 (1st settlement misdemeanor), registered under No. 18 of 2021 (Cairo Appeal), filed against Ayman Mansour Nada, the head of the radio and television department at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication, to Thursday’s April 28 hearing. 

The court’s decision to adjourn the hearing came to examine the civil claim of the SCMR head Karam Gabr against charges against Nada of publicly insulting him, and to inform Nada’s defense team of the case’s papers.

The Public Prosecution charged Nada with the following charges:

He publicly and maliciously published false news in his two articles, “Egypt between the media of poverty and the poverty of the media” and “testimony to the era of deficient media and its lean years,” that the Egyptian media lacks professionalism and conscience and relies on fundraising and extortion contrary to the truth, and the dissemination of these news would disturb public peace. Through his Facebook account. 

He publicly and maliciously published false news on his account on Facebook, including his article entitled (The black hole of the regime), which is that the Egyptian media has failed to keep up with the government in its achievements, and the publication of such news would disturb the public peace as stated in the investigations.

He publicly insulted the SCMR head Karam Gabr through publishing on Facebook with the words shown in the papers because of his position, as stated in the investigations. 

Insulting the mentioned victim with the third item through publishing because of his position, as stated in his articles. 

Using his personal Facebook account to commit crimes, as described in the investigations.

The Public Prosecution demanded that Nada be punished following the provisions of Articles 171/5, 185, 188, 306 of the Penal Code, and Article 27 of Law 175 of 2018 regarding combating information technology crimes.

On Thursday, March 21, Cairo Criminal Court (Circuit 27 South) sentenced Ayman Mansour Nada, the head of the radio and television department at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication, to suspended one year in prison and a fine of 20,000 pounds, in connection with Case No. 9840 of 2021 (Fifth Settlement Misdemeanor).

The court’s decision to imprison Nada came against the backdrop of insulting the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) member Rania Metwally Hashem and using a Facebook account to commit this crime. The court also decided to acquit him of all other charges that included publishing false news about Egyptian media and insulting the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) and several members of the SCMR. The court also rejected the civil lawsuit filed by the SCMR head Karam Gabr against Nada.

adjudication to March 31 session”

Yesterday, Cairo Criminal Court (Circuit 27 South) decided to set the date of lawsuit No. 9840 of 2021 (Fifth Settlement Misdemeanour) against Ayman Mansour Nada, the head of the radio and television department at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication, for adjudication to the next March 31 session.

In the aforementioned lawsuit, Nada faces – over articles published on a Facebook account attributed to him – charges of publicly and maliciously publishing false news about Egyptian media that would disturb public peace and harm the public interest. He also faces charges of insulting the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) by describing it as a tyrant and insulting the National Press Authority and the SCMR head Karam Gabr. Nada was also charged with insulting SCMR members Rania Metwally Hashem and Abdel-Sadiq Muhammad Abdel-Aziz, and director of the media syndicate Tariq Ali Mohamed.

Earlier, The Disciplinary Council of Cairo University’s teaching staff decided to set the date of disciplinary lawsuits against Nada for adjudication to the next February 17 session, against the backdrop of publishing articles criticizing Cairo University.

Yesterday, The Disciplinary Council of Cairo University’s teaching staff decided to set the date of disciplinary lawsuits against Ayman Mansour Nada, the head of the radio and television department at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication, for adjudication to the next February 17 session.

Yesterday’s disciplinary hearing was conducted to review the disciplinary lawsuits filed against Nada, which held numbers 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 of 2021, Referring Nada to The Disciplinary Council comes against the backdrop of writing articles criticizing Cairo University and several financial and administrative violations supported by documents.

The day before yesterday, The South Cairo Criminal Court decided to adjourn the trial session of Ayman Mansour Nada, the head of the radio and television department at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication, to the session next January 26 for the pleading preparation.

The adjournment decision came in connection with Case No. 9840 of 2021 over articles published on a Facebook account attributed to him. He faces charges of publicly and maliciously publishing false news about Egyptian media that would disturb public peace and harm the public interest. He also faces charges of insulting the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) by describing it as a tyrant and insulting the National Press Authority and the SCMR head Karam Gabr. Nada was also charged with insulting SCMR members Rania Metwally Hashem and Abdel-Sadiq Muhammad Abdel-Aziz, and director of the media syndicate Tariq Ali Mohamed.

Today, The Disciplinary Council of Cairo University’s teaching staff decided to adjourn the disciplinary hearing of Ayman Mansour Nada, the head of the radio and television department at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication, to next January 4.

Today’s disciplinary hearing was conducted to review the disciplinary lawsuits filed against Nada, which held numbers 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 of 2021, Nada’s defense panel requested access to the complaints against him, in addition to the referral decisions and investigations, the Chairman of the Disciplinary Council accepted the requests by postponing the hearing.

Referring Nada to The Disciplinary Council comes against the backdrop of writing articles criticizing Cairo University and several financial and administrative violations supported by documents.

Yesterday, The South Cairo Criminal Court decided to adjourn the trial session of Dr. Ayman Mansour Nada, the head of the radio and television department at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communication, to the session of next December 27 for the defense panel’s requests.

The adjournment decision came in connection with Case No. 9840 of 2021 over articles published on a Facebook account attributed to him. He faces charges of publicly and maliciously publishing false news about Egyptian media that would disturb public peace and harm the public interest. He also faces charges of insulting the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) by describing it as a tyrant and also insulting the National Press Authority and the SCMR head Karam Gabr. Nada was also charged with insulting SCMR members Rania Metwally Hashem and Abdel-Sadiq Muhammad Abdel-Aziz, as well as head of the media syndicate Tariq Ali Mohamed.

Nada’s defense panel submitted several requests to the court, including:

• To present a certificate or statement from the National Council for Media Regulation on the number of committees or positions occupied by Ms. Rania Metwally Hashem the SCMR member, and a statement of the salaries, allowances, and financial incentives she had received in 2020.

• To provide a certificate or statement of what Hashem obtained from Extra News Channel, the nature of her work in the channel, and the total amount of salaries, financial incentives, allowances, etc., in 2020.

• To submit a statement from Al-Akhbar Foundation and Rosa Al-Youssef, including the incentives, allowances, rewards, and others that Mr. Karam Gabr had received.

• To present a statement from the Supreme Council for Media Regulation on Al-Seha Waljamal, Al Hadath Al-Youm, and Al Bait Baytak channels, the schedule, presenters, and topics of its programs during 2020.

• To assign an expert from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority to examine the Facebook account in which Nada’s charges are attributed, as defective in the existing report was found.

With the session adjournment, The court only considered the first and second requests and did not heed the other requests; It is noteworthy that a representative of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation while attending the session yesterday, demanded a temporary civil claim of EGP 10,001 against Nada until the case is decided upon the court.

On November 17, Cairo Appeal Prosecution decided to release Dr. Ayman Mansour Nada – the head of the radio and television department at the faculty of mass communication Cairo University- in connection with Case No. 23 of 2021 (limiting Cairo Appeals).

The case events are due to Nada writing articles criticizing Cairo University and several financial and administrative violations supported by documents, which led the president and advisors of Cairo University to submit reports against him to the Public Prosecutor.

Nada faced charges in the above-mentioned case of insulting the president of Cairo University and several university officials and using his account on Facebook to commit the crime.

Tuesday, October 26, The Appellant Judge of New Cairo Court decided to renew the detention of Dr. Ayman Mansour Nada, the head of the radio and television department at the faculty of mass communication Cairo University, for 15 days, into Case No. 23 of 2021 (limiting Cairo Appeals).

The case events are due to Nada writing articles criticizing Cairo University and several financial and administrative violations supported by documents, which led the president and advisors of Cairo University to submit reports against him to the Public Prosecutor.

Nada is facing charges of insulting the president of Cairo University and several university officials and using his account on Facebook to commit the crime.

Yesterday, South Cairo Criminal Court (Circuit 27 Criminal)adjourned the trial session of Dr. Ayman Mansour Nada, the head of the radio and television department at the faculty of mass communication Cairo University, to November 22 session, as per the defense’s request to review the case papers and prepare for pleading. The 49-year-old Nada suffers from several health problems, most notably coronary insufficiency, diabetes, neuritis, and high cholesterol.

The decision came in connection with Case No. 9840 of 2021 (Fifth Settlement Misdemeanour), in which Nada is accused – against the background of articles published on a Facebook account attributed to him – by publicly and malice publishing false news about the Egyptian media that would disturb public peace and harm the public interest, insulting the Supreme Council For Media Regulation by describing it as tyranny, and the National Press Authority, and insulting each of Karam Kamel Ibrahim Gabr head of the Supreme Council For Media Regulation using derogatory language and insulting both Rania Metwally Hashem, the member of the Supreme Council For Media Regulation, Abdel-Sadiq Muhammad Abdel-Aziz, the member of the Supreme Council For Media Regulation, and ِHead of the media Syndicate Tariq Ali Mohamed.

The Public Prosecution demanded to sentence Nada following Articles (171), (184), (185), (188), (302), (303), (306), and (308) regulated by the Penal Code regarding insulting public officials, as well as Article (27) of the Information Technology Crimes Law No. 175 of 2018, which stipulates to punish anyone who establishes, manages or uses a website or account on the Internet to commit or facilitate the commission of a crime with imprisonment for no less than two years and a fine of no less than 100,000 pounds and not more than 300,000 pounds.

Nada’s defense team plead the following: 

• First: Assigning an expert of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority to examine the publishing Facebook account and indicate the account’s owner, the subject of the accusations attributed to the accused.
• Second: The criminal court has no jurisdiction to consider the case, and the economic court has jurisdiction to consider the case under Article 10 of Law 175 of 2018.
• Third: To view the case papers.

And by adjourning the session, the court did not pay attention to the first and second pleas, and it is worth noting that the accused is still in pretrial detention pending cases No. 22 and 23 of 2021 (First settlement misdemeanor).
