Mahmoud Hussein is an Egyptian journalist, who worked as an editor in chief in the national Egyptian TV before working in Aljazeera tv as a crew member in it\u2019s office in Cairo. In 2013 the Egyptian authorities shut down Al Jazeera’s office in Cairo. After that Hussein moved to Doha, Qatar and worked in Al Jazeera’s news room, as a news producer.<\/span><\/p>\n

In December 20, 2016 the National Security Agency (NSA) at Cairo International Airport stopped Hussein upon his returning from Doha to spend his annual vacation in Egypt. After Being interrogated for more than 15 hours, Hussein has been released having his passport kept by NSA. Two days later, Hussein Received a phone call from the NSA office in Giza, in which he was told to go to the office to retrieve his passport. He was not heard from for more than 10 hours after. Then, Hussein appeared in his house handcuffed and led by NSA agents who raided the house. His Two brothers got arrested the same day after the NSA agents broke into both of their houses, to be released 11 hours after. From his house, Hussein was led to an unknown place.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was interrogated after by the the National Security Prosecution who ordered him detained on charges of “broadcasting of false news, data and rumors regarding the situation in Egypt, and faking scenes and reports”.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hussein has remained detained after the Public Prosecution had regularly renewed his pretrial detention, followed by decisions by the Counseling Office of the Criminal Court of Giza. In the last court session for Hussein in December 14, 2017, he completed his first year in prison without being referred to the specialized court for his case.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
