This comes after more than two and a half years in pretrial detention on charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media platforms.<\/p>\n

El-Rouby had been arrested several times, most recently on September 16, 2023, just three months after being released in another lawsuit in which he had spent a year and a half in detention. That arrest followed his appearance on a TV show, where he spoke about the political prisoners’ struggles to lead normal lives after their release.<\/p>\n

El rouby\u2019s health condition deteriorated significantly during his detention, exacerbated by the prosecution\u2019s repeated disregard of defense requests to have him examined by a specialist doctor.<\/p>\n

Security forces arrested El-Rouby on September 16, only three months after his release in another lawsuit in which he had been held for a year and a half. The Criminal Court (First Terrorism Circuit) has decided to renew Sherif <\/span>Elrouby<\/span>\u2019s detention for 45 days, pending investigations in case No. 1634 of 2022 (State Security Register). <\/span>Elrouby<\/span> previously complained during a session of severe inflammation of the facial nerve, which has caused him intense pain and difficulty speaking, accusing the administration of Al-Ashir Men Ramadan Prison of refusing him treatment or access to a specialist.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the session, <\/span>Elrouby<\/span>\u2019s defense submitted a written request to allow him to be examined by a radiology specialist to treat the facial nerve condition he has been suffering from for nine months. The prison administration continued to withhold the necessary treatment, despite repeated appeals from his defense to the Public Prosecution without response.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Criminal Court (Second Circuit) renewed Sherif Elrouby\u2019s detention for extra 45 days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 1634 of 2022 (State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

Elrouby was recently diagnosed with severe inflammation of the seventh nerve and is suffering from excruciating pain that reached the point of difficulty in speaking. On July 30\u2019s hearing; the Criminal Court (Third Circuit) renewed Sherif Elrouby\u2019s detention for extra 45 days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 1634 of 2022 (State Security).<\/p>\n

Elrouby was recently diagnosed with severe inflammation of the seventh nerve and is suffering from excruciating pain that has reached the point of difficulty in speaking. His former prison administration in Abou Za\u2019abal refused the Court\u2019s order to transfer him to the prison hospital so he could visit a specialized doctor; Elrouby stated before the court that his new prison administration refused to dispense his medications and didn\u2019t allow him to get his physiotherapy sessions. On May 9, Cairo Criminal Court (First Circuit) decided to renew Sherif El-Rouby\u2019s detention for 45 days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 1634 of 2022 (State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

El-Rouby suffers from severe inflammation of the seventh nerve which resulted in excruciating pain and difficulty in speaking, the Court permitted him in the last hearing to see a specialized doctor. However, the Abu Zaabal prison administration ignored the court\u2019s decision. AFTE\u2019s lawyer demanded an investigation in this regard of deliberate medical negligence. El-Rouby faces accusations of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.<\/span><\/p>\n

29 March 2023 “Criminal Court renews Sherif El-Rouby\u2019s detention for 45 days despite suffering from severe inflammation of the seventh nerve and his inability to speak”\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On March 29, the Criminal Court (Third Circuit) decided to renew Sherif El-Rouby\u2019s detention for 45 days, pending investigations of case No. 1634 of 2022 (State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

During the hearing, El-Rouby complained before the court from the deliberate medical negligence practiced against him, as he suffers from severe inflammation of the seventh nerve which resulted in excruciating pain and difficulty in speaking. The prison administration refused to transfer him to the hospital or provide him with appropriate health care.<\/span><\/p>\n

It should be noted that El-Rouby was reaccused in the current case, only three months after his release in another case. El-Rouby faces accusations of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.<\/span><\/p>\n

31 January 2023 “Criminal Court renews activist Sherif El-Rouby\u2019s detention for 45 days”\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On January 31, the Criminal Court (Third Circuit) decided to renew the detention of political activist Sherif El-Rouby, pending investigations of case No. 1634 of 2022 (State Security), for 45 days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

El-Rouby faces charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media. The same charges he faced before pending other cases before his release. He was arrested once again only three months after his release; as a result of speaking out about the sufferings of the political prisoners after their release.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

17 January 2023<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On January 17; the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Sherif El-Rouby, the political activist, at April 6 Movement, pending investigations into case No. 1634 of 2022 (State Security).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

El-Rouby faces charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news and information, and misusing social media, the exact charges he faced before in different cases, the most recent of which was Case No. 1111 of 2020, in which El-Rouby spent 18 months in pretrial detention before he got a presidential pardon. It was preceded by several other cases in which he also faced the exact charges.<\/span><\/p>\n

3 January 2023\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On January 3, <\/span>Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew activist Sherif El-Rouby\u2019s detention for 15 days, pending investigations of the third case in which he\u2019s convicted, case No. 1634 of 2022 (State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

El-Rouby was subjected to many violations, such as being included in three cases with similar charges. After his release, pending the second case in which he was detained for a year and a half, he did not enjoy his freedom for long, as he was arrested again after only three months. El-Rouby faces charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.<\/span><\/p>\n

20 December 2022\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On December 20, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of activist Sherif El-Rouby for 15 days, in connection with investigations of case No. 1634 of 2022 (State Security). The third case in which El-Rouby is convicted with similar charges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

El-Rouby spent a year and a half in pretrial detention pending the previous case, and he was released after his name was listed in presidential pardons for political prisoners, but he was arrested again after nearly three months. Security forces arrested El-Rouby on September 16, in front of a hotel in downtown Cairo, after nearly 3 months of his release on presidential pardon pending another case where he spent a year and a half in pretrial detention. El-Rouby\u2019s arrest comes as a result of his expression of the difficulties that face the released political detainees in forming a normal life.<\/span><\/p>\n

On November 8, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of activist Sherif El-Rouby for 15 days, in connection with Case No. 1634 of 2022 State Security.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

El-Rouby was listed in this case only after less than three months of his release within the presidential pardon initiative pending another case, in which he spent more than a year and half in pretrial detention, as El-Rouby participated in a phone interview on Al-Jazeera in which he talked about the difficulties that faces the released detainees in living a normal life, he was arrested shortly after the interview.<\/span><\/p>\n

11 October 2022 “Supreme State Security Prosecution renews Sherif El-Rouby\u2019s detention for 15 days pending a new case after only three months of his release”\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On October 11, The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of activist Sherif El-Rouby for 15 days in connection with a new case he was listed in, only after three months of his release, that carries No. 1634 of 2022 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).<\/span><\/p>\n

This time, El-Rouby was arrested on the 16th of September after he participated in an interview on Al-Jazeera in which he talked about the difficulties the released detainees of political lawsuits face, such as social ostracism and the nearly impossible chance of them obtaining a job that guarantees them a decent life after their release, in addition to preventing him from traveling abroad and the authorities refused to issue him a passport.<\/span><\/p>\n

El-Rouby spent a year and a half in pre-trial detention in connection with Case No. 1111 of 2020 State Security; before he was released, his arrest once again raises doubts about the existence of a real human rights breakthrough in Egypt, which was announced by the presidential pardon initiative, as well as it raises questions about the possibility of re-arresting those who were released.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the current case, El-Rouby faces charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media, which are very similar to the previous charges he faced.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On September 27, The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Sherif El-Rouby for 15 days in connection with a new case that carries No. 1634 of 2022 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

El-Rouby was released after a year and a half of pretrial detention within the presidential pardon initiative of political prisoners; after three months, specifically on the 16th of September, he was arrested again, against the backdrop of his participation in an interview with Al-Jazeera channel where he talked about the political prisoners\u2019 conditions and how they struggle to have a normal life after their release.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a joint statement<\/span><\/a>, AFTE and many human rights organizations expressed their concern regarding the released prisoners and the possibility of getting arrested again.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On May 30, the prison administration finalized Sherif Ali Mohamed Ali, known as Sherif El-Rouby\u2019s release procedures under the guarantee of his residence, in connection with Case No. 1111 of 2020 (Supreme State Security). After a year and a half in pretrial detention.<\/p>\n

El-Rouby was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution in December 2020 pending the mentioned case, and he faced charges of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.<\/p>\n

Today, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release Sherif Ali Mohamed Ali, known as \u201cSherif El-Rouby\u201d, in connection with Case No. 1111 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

El-Rouby was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution in December 2020 pending the current case, and he faced charges of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

29 March 2022<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

On Tuesday, March 29, The Criminal Court (The Third Circuit Terrorism) decided to renew the detention of Sherif El-Rouby for 45 days, in connection with Case No. 1111 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).<\/p>\n

Notably, El-Rouby was detained in connection with Case No. 621 of 2018, after one year and a half in pretrial detention, the Criminal Court decided to release him, two months later he was rotated into the current case.<\/p>\n

7 September 2021<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Third Circuit of the Criminal Court considered the detention order of \u201cSherif El-Rouby\u201d, and ordered to extend it for 45 extra days, this came pending Case No. 1111 of 2020 Supreme State Security. The session was held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s noteworthy that \u201cEl-Rouby\u201d was detained pending case No 621 of 2018, and Cairo criminal court decided to release him on July 22, 2019, after nearly a year and a half of pretrial detention, However, an arrest warrant against him was issued by the prosecution in last December, and he was investigated in the current case.<\/p>\n

This practice is known as \u201crotating\u201d and refers to re-detaining defendants after their release, usually with the same previous charges, or it may be a case that began during his pretrial detention, in order to keep political dissidents detained.<\/p>\n

23 May 2021<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The third circuit (criminal\/terrorism), had decided on Sunday’s hearing, May 23, 2021, to renew the detention of Sherif Ali Mohamed Ali, known as “Sherif El-Rouby”, for 45 Days Pending Investigations in Case No. 1111 of 2020 supreme state security, with charges of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.<\/p>\n

It’s noteworthy that “El-Rouby” was brought before the Prosecution last December, and was investigated without his lawyers, Also, he was detained pending case No 621 of 2018<\/a>, and after a year and half of pretrial detention, Cairo criminal court decided to release him on July 22, 2019, However, a decision to arrest him was issued by the prosecution in December 2020 to be investigated in the current case.<\/p>\n
