{"id":26180,"date":"2021-11-29T17:10:16","date_gmt":"2021-11-29T15:10:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afteegypt.org\/?p=26180"},"modified":"2021-11-29T17:10:16","modified_gmt":"2021-11-29T15:10:16","slug":"grievance-of-four-defendants-against-state-security-emergency-court-sentence-accepted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afteegypt.org\/en\/legal-profiles-en\/legal-news-en\/2021\/11\/29\/26180-afteegypt.html","title":{"rendered":"Grievance of four defendants against State Security Emergency Court sentence accepted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>28 November 2021\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Military Governor\u2019s office had decided yesterday to accept the grievance filed by the defense panel of Haitham Abdel Nasser, Eslam Ahmed Abde-Khaliq, Atef Elsayed Ali, and Karim Abou Elhassan, to reduce the prison sentences to one year and the fine to one thousand pounds.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The State Security Emergency Court in Zagazig had issued a sentence against the four defendants to two years in prison and a fine of 50 thousand pounds for each of them, in connection with Case No. 1423 of 2019 (State Security Emergency Minya Al-Qamh). The defendants\u2019 defense panel filed a grievance before the Military Governor\u2019s office to have a retrial, and this time the court issued a sentence to five years in prison and a fine of 50 thousand pounds, the sentence that was later reduced to one year in prison and a fine of one thousand pounds.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The four defendants were referred to the exceptional trial on charges of demonstrating and gathering at Saadian Road, Sharkia Governorate.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">And according to the Emergency Law &#8211; which was recently canceled &#8211; the State Security Courts\u2019 sentences can not be appealed.
