{"id":29116,"date":"2022-02-20T14:38:13","date_gmt":"2022-02-20T12:38:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afteegypt.org\/?p=29116"},"modified":"2022-02-20T14:38:13","modified_gmt":"2022-02-20T12:38:13","slug":"aftes-weekly-legal-bulletin-13-to-20-february-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afteegypt.org\/en\/legal-profiles-en\/weekly-legal-bulletin-en-2\/2022\/02\/20\/29116-afteegypt.html","title":{"rendered":"AFTE\u2019s Weekly Legal Bulletin (13 to 20 February 2022)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>The Legal Bulletin covers the lawsuits in which AFTE provides the necessary legal aid, in accordance with AFTE\u2019s action framework.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>The detention of Ahmed Hassanein Moussa &amp; Mohammad Mokhaimer\u2019s precautionary measures renewed; Ebrahim Abdel-Samie released.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"background-color: #800000; color: #ffffff;\"><strong>Criminal Courts<\/strong> <\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Sunday, February 13&#8217;s sessions, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) renewed the detention of Ahmed Hassanein Mohamed Moussa for 45 days in connection with Case No. 1475 of 2019 (Supreme State Security).<\/p>\n<p>Notably, Moussa&#8217;s defense submitted a request to appeal his detention order to the Criminal Court, but the court rejected the request and upheld the decision to renew his detention.<\/p>\n<p>Moussa was arrested at the beginning of October 19; he appeared before the prosecution on November 18 of the same year. The prosecution charged him with several accusations, including joining a terrorist group, committing a financing crime, spreading false news, and misusing a social media website.<\/p>\n<p>The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) renewed the precautionary measures of Mohammad Abd-Ellah Mokhaimer for 45 days in connection with Case No. 1956 of 2019 (Supreme State Security).<\/p>\n<p>The precautionary measure imposed on Mokhaimer is to hand himself over to the police station of his residence for a certain number of hours weekly, this came after the court\u2019s decision to replace his pretrial detention with one of the precautionary measures.<\/p>\n<p>Security forces arrested Mokhaimer in the first week of January 2020 to appear before the prosecution one month later in connection with the case mentioned above with charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.<\/p>\n<p>The Criminal Court (the 5th Circuit terrorism) decided to replace the pretrial detention of Ebrahim Ahmed Abdel-Samie with precautionary measures, in connection with Case No. 1057 of 2020 (State Security).<\/p>\n<p>Abdel-Samie was arrested from his workplace in Mo\u2019men restaurant located in Bab El-Louk area against the backdrop of September 2019 events. He was first listed in Case 1338 of 2019 (State Security) until a decision to release him was issued on November 3, 2020. However, the decision didn\u2019t pass.
