It is worth noting that during the 12 November session, Fahmy requested to be referred to neurologists and orthopedists, even if at her expense, and the defense submitted a written request to the court to present her to specialist doctors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fahmy shared several videos on her Facebook profile sharing her economic views and the Renaissance Dam crisis; following that, Fahmy shared several live videos stating being pursued by unknown individuals; she was arrested a few days after this incident.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fahmy also suffered from poor detention conditions, as she was banned from outdoor walks, reading, and communicating with others.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Criminal Court (Second Criminal and Terrorism Circuit) decided to renew the detention of the former TV presenter at Maspero, Hala Fahmy for an extra 45 days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 441 of 2022 (Supreme State Security). It is worth noting that during the previous hearing, Fahmy requested to be referred to neurologists and orthopedists, even if at her expense, and the defense submitted a written request to the court to present her to specialist doctors.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Criminal Court (First Circuit) decided to renew the detention of the former TV presenter at Maspero, Hala Fahmy, for an extra 45 days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 441 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).<\/p>\n

Fahmy’s expression of her political and economic views was the reason for her arrest, as Fahmy posted several videos on her Facebook account on the crisis of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the Emirati investments in Egypt. Several days later, Fahmy posted a live video stating she was pursued by security forces in civilian clothes. On April 24, the security forces arrested her, and the Prosecution interrogated her on the same day without a lawyer and accused her of joining a terrorist group, inciting to commit a crime, and spreading false news domestically and abroad.<\/p>\n

On the 9th of July, Cairo Criminal Court (Second Circuit) decided to renew the detention of the former Tv presenter on the National Media Authority, Hala Fahmy, for another 45 days, pending the investigations of lawsuit No. 441 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).<\/p>\n

On May 24, the Criminal Court (First Circuit) decided to renew the detention of TV presenter, Hala Fahmy, for 45 days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 441 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

Fahmy\u2019s arrest included a series of violations against her which included tracking, prosecution, and security and professional surveillance, as she was banned from entering Maspero, her workplace, with deducting half of her salary because she supported her fellow employees\u2019 protests, her house was stormed, and she got arrested several posts on her Facebook profile, in addition to the prosecution interrogated her without her lawyer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

11 April 2023 “Criminal Court renews Hala Fahmy\u2019s detention for 45 days”\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On April 11, the Criminal Court (Second Circuit) decided to renew the detention of Tv presenter Hala Fahmy for 45 days, pending investigations of case No. 441 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

During the hearing, Fahmy reported being subjected to continuous physical and verbal assaults by other prisoners in her prison ward; Hala previously went on a hunger strike for several days in protest against poor treatment inside prison and being deprived of outdoor walks and reading. The Court did not respond to Fahmy’s complaints.<\/span><\/p>\n

Security forces arrested Fahmy last April 24 against the backdrop of several posts she shared on her Facebook account. As a result; she was accused of joining a terrorist group, incitement to commit a terrorist crime, and spreading false news domestically and abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n

21 November 2022 “Criminal Court renewed TV presenter Hala Fahmy\u2019s detention after 6 days on a hunger strike”\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On November 21, the Criminal Court (1st Criminal & Terrorism Circuit) deiced to renew the detention of TV presenter Hala Fahmy<\/span>, for 45 days, in connection with Case No. 441 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fahmy reported to her lawyers that she went on a hunger strike for the second time, which lasted for 6 days before she broke it on the day of her detention hearing. Last May Fahmy went on her first hunger strike that lasted for 3 days due to poor detention conditions <\/span>\u00a0and depriving her of the right to read, exercise, and communicate with others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hala Fahmy is a senior TV presenter with the rank of general manager at the Egyptian state television. She worked as a broadcaster for a number of Egyptian TV channels, before the National Media Authority decided in February to temporarily suspend her from work and denied access from the Radio and Television building as a form of arbitrariness against her for her solidarity with the protests of Maspero employees back then.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Security forces arrested Fahmy on April 24, right after she posted a live video on Facebook stating that she\u2019s being chased down and mentioned that security force members in civilian clothes stormed her house while she was absent, her arrest came against posting several videos on Facebook. Fahmy faces charges of joining a terrorist group, inciting to commit a crime and spreading false news domestically and abroad.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

10 October 2022 “Criminal Court renews Hala Fahmy\u2019s detention for 45 days”\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On October 10, the Criminal Court (2nd Criminal & Terrorism Circuit) decided to renew the detention of former Tv presenter at the National Media Authority, Hala Fahmy, for 45 extra days, in connection with Case No. 441 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Security forces targeted Fahmy in February against the backdrop of her solidarity with Maspero Staff protests that demanded improving employment conditions, specifically to obtain late financial dues, which led to her being denied access to her workplace and decreasing her salary by half.<\/span><\/p>\n

And in April, she posted a live video on her Facebook profile stating that anonymous individuals were chasing her down after she posted videos about the Egyptian economy and the crisis of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After her arrest, the Supreme State Security Prosecution confronted Fahmy with the videos she posted, and charged her with joining a terrorist group, incitement to commit a terrorist crime, and spreading false news domestically and abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n

31 August 2022 “For the 10th time; Supreme State Security Prosecution renews Tv presenter Hala Fahmy\u2019s detention for 15 days”\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On August 31, The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Tv presenter Hala Fahmy, for 15 days, in connection with Case No. 441 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

Security forces arrested Fahmy on April 24, after she posted a live video on her Facebook profile stating that she was being chased down; she also mentioned that security force members in civilian clothes stormed her house while she was absent, against the backdrop of previously posting videos on Facebook about the Egyptian economy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The prosecution investigated Fahmy for the first time on April 24, without her lawyers, and decided to detain her for 15 days pending investigation.<\/p>\n
