The Court did not respond to Fahmy&#8217;s complaints.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Security forces arrested Fahmy last April 24 against the backdrop of several posts she shared on her Facebook account. As a result; she was accused of joining a terrorist group, incitement to commit a terrorist crime, and spreading false news domestically and abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>21 November 2022 &#8220;Criminal Court renewed TV presenter Hala Fahmy\u2019s detention after 6 days on a hunger strike&#8221;\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On November 21, the Criminal Court (1st Criminal &amp; Terrorism Circuit) deiced to renew the detention of TV presenter Hala Fahmy<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for 45 days, in connection with Case No. 441 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fahmy reported to her lawyers that she went on a hunger strike for the second time, which lasted for 6 days before she broke it on the day of her detention hearing. Last May Fahmy went on her first hunger strike that lasted for 3 days due to poor detention conditions <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and depriving her of the right to read, exercise, and communicate with others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hala Fahmy is a senior TV presenter with the rank of general manager at the Egyptian state television. She worked as a broadcaster for a number of Egyptian TV channels, before the National Media Authority decided in February to temporarily suspend her from work and denied access from the Radio and Television building as a form of arbitrariness against her for her solidarity with the protests of Maspero employees back then.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Security forces arrested Fahmy on April 24, right after she posted a live video on Facebook stating that she\u2019s being chased down and mentioned that security force members in civilian clothes stormed her house while she was absent, her arrest came against posting several videos on Facebook. Fahmy faces charges of joining a terrorist group, inciting to commit a crime and spreading false news domestically and abroad.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>10 October 2022 &#8220;Criminal Court renews Hala Fahmy\u2019s detention for 45 days&#8221;\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On October 10, the Criminal Court (2nd Criminal &amp; Terrorism Circuit) decided to renew the detention of former Tv presenter at the National Media Authority, Hala Fahmy, for 45 extra days, in connection with Case No. 441 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Security forces targeted Fahmy in February against the backdrop of her solidarity with Maspero Staff protests that demanded improving employment conditions, specifically to obtain late financial dues, which led to her being denied access to her workplace and decreasing her salary by half.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And in April, she posted a live video on her Facebook profile stating that anonymous individuals were chasing her down after she posted videos about the Egyptian economy and the crisis of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After her arrest, the Supreme State Security Prosecution confronted Fahmy with the videos she posted, and charged her with joining a terrorist group, incitement to commit a terrorist crime, and spreading false news domestically and abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>31 August 2022 &#8220;For the 10th time; Supreme State Security Prosecution renews Tv presenter Hala Fahmy\u2019s detention for 15 days&#8221;\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On August 31, The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Tv presenter Hala Fahmy, for 15 days, in connection with Case No. 441 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Security forces arrested Fahmy on April 24, after she posted a live video on her Facebook profile stating that she was being chased down; she also mentioned that security force members in civilian clothes stormed her house while she was absent, against the backdrop of previously posting videos on Facebook about the Egyptian economy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s noteworthy that Fahmy was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution for the first time without a lawyer.
