Agrama faces charges of joining and financing a terrorist group, inciting a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement aimed at committing a terrorist act, and using social media to promote a terrorist act.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of the deputy director of the Information Technology Department at Al-Akhbar newspaper, Yehia Elsayed Othman,\u00a0 the nursing student at Ain Shams University, Islam Ramadan Kamel, Adel Ahmed Soliman, and Mohamed Mostafa Abdel Qader for 15 days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The four defendants were charged with joining and financing a terrorist group with their knowledge of its aims, inciting a terrorist act, promoting a terrorist act through social media, spreading false news, and participating in a criminal agreement intended to commit a terrorist act.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of Ahmed Abdel Mageed Oraby for 15 days in connection with case No. 2094 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s noteworthy that Oraby lost one of his eyes on the clashes of Mohamed Mahmoud street; he was also detained for a year and a half in the case known in the media as Al-Ittihadiya Palace events. This time Oraby was arrested on November 6th; after publishing several posts on Facebook with his opinions regarding several economic and political decisions. Oraby faces <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">charges of joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its aims, committing the crime of financing terrorism, inciting to commit a terrorist crime, participating in the criminal agreement to commit a terrorist crime, spreading false news and information, and using an account on the Internet to commit a terrorist crime.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Borg El-Arab Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Masters student Moaaz Rizk for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rizk was arrested on November 2 after a security force stopped him at a police checkpoint in Alexandria, where they searched his mobile phone; he faces charges of joining a terrorist group and possessing publications that promote its ideas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On December 18, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the Association for Freedom of Thoughts and Expression submitted two requests before the Supreme State Security Prosecution to release Mohamed Mahfouz Abdul Latif pending Case No. 2000 of 2021, and to\u00a0 refer Abdul Latif to a pulmonologist and a nephrologist, as he can\u2019t receive appropriate medical care for his condition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Security forces arrested Abdul Latif in August 2021 from his workplace in Faggala, Cairo, and detained him illegally for two weeks before he was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution, which charged him with joining a terrorist group (Ultras White Knights), publishing false news and information, and using social media to spread the false information.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>December 18 Hearings:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">T<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Mohamed Raafat Nasr for 15 days in connection with case No. 1977 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Security forces arrested Nasr on November 2; he was interrogated before the prosecution on November 7 and faces charges of joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, using social media to call for a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement intended to commit a terrorist crime, incitement to commit a terrorist crime, publishing and spreading false news and information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of lawyer Ahmed Nazeer El-Helw for 15 days in connection with case No. 1940 of 2022 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El-Helw was arrested from his house on November 7; he was detained in an unknown place till, on November 13, he appeared before the prosecution; after the interrogations, he was charged with joining a terrorist group.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ffffff; background-color: #800000;\"><b>Criminal Courts<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On December 12, The Criminal Court (Second Circuit) decided to renew the detention of\u00a0 Ahmed Al-Tohamy, the assistant professor of political science at the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science at Alexandria University, for 45 days in connection with Case No. 649 of 2020 (Supreme State Security). Despite that Al-Tohamy exceeded the maximum period of pretrial detention stipulated in law.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Al-Tohamy was arrested on June 3, 2020; he was subjected to enforced disappearance for 17 days until he was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on June 20, which charged him with joining a terrorist group, spreading false news and statements, and misusing social media.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme State Security Prosecution &nbsp; December 12 hearings:\u00a0 &nbsp; The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of the journalist\u00a0 Manal Agrama for 15 days in connection with case No. 1893 of 2020 (State Security).
