The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release the two content creators, Ahmed Tarek and Basma Hegazy, under the guarantee of their place of residence, pending lawsuit No. 184 of 2023 (Supreme State Security), against the backdrop of a sarcastic video they participated in with another group of content creators, who were also released.<\/span><\/p>\n

The security forces arrested the content creators on January 25 after the video, as mentioned earlier, went viral; the content of the video revolves around a person who is in prison for arguing with a person in power. The Supreme State Security Prosecution conducted investigations with them about this video. They were later accused of joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, spreading false news and information, and using social media accounts to spread false news and information.<\/span><\/p>\n

16 September 2023<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The Criminal Court (First Circuit) decided to renew the detention of the two content creators, Ahmed Tarek and Basma Hegazy, for 45 extra days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 184 of 2023 (Supreme State Security) over a sarcastic video in which they participated with other content creators who were also arrested.<\/p>\n

The arrest of the content creators came after publishing a video titled \u201cThe Visit<\/a>,\u201d where a girl visits her male friend in prison after he argued with someone in power, referred to in the video as \u201cthe governor.\u201d They have previously published a video titled \u201cThe General Prosecutor<\/a>\u201d discussing price hikes sarcastically and another video<\/a> about the deterioration of the value of the Egyptian pound against the dollar.<\/p>\n

The prosecution accused the content creators of joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, spreading false news and information, and using social media accounts to spread false news and information.<\/p>\n

The seven months ongoing detention of the two content creators, Ahmed Tarek and Basma Hegazy, was renewed for extra 45 days<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In their second hearing before the Criminal Court, the First Circuit of the court decided to renew the detention of the two content creators, Ahmed Tarek and Basma Hegazy, for 45 extra days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 184 of 2023 (Supreme State Security), against the backdrop of a sarcastic video they participated in with another group of content creators, who were also arrested.<\/p>\n

On June 24, the Criminal Court (Third Circuit) decided to renew the detention of the two social media content creators, Ahmed Tarek Hassanein and Basma Hegazy, for 45 days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 184 of 2023 (Supreme State Security).<\/p>\n

The two content creators known as \u201cChocolata\u201d and \u201cWarda\u201d complete their sixth months in pretrial detention against the backdrop of a parody video they participated in. The content of the video revolves around a detained person over his argument with a person of authority. All those who participated in the video were arrested as well. The prosecution accused the content creators of joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, spreading false news and information, and using social media accounts to spread false news and information.<\/p>\n

On June 12, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of the two content creator, Ahmed Tarek Hassanein, for 15 days pending investigations of lawsuit No. 184 of 2023 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Supreme State Security Prosecution interrogated the well-known content creator Chocolata regarding the video \u201cThe Visit\u201d in which he participated. The content of the video revolves around a detained person over his argument with a person of authority. All those who participated in the video were arrested as well. The prosecution accused the two content creators of joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, spreading false news and information, and using social media accounts to spread false news and information.<\/span><\/p>\n

27 May 2023 “For the 10th time, Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of Ahmed Tarek and Basma Hegazy for 15 days over a sarcastic video”

On May 27, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided for the 10th time to renew the detention of the two content creators, Ahmed Tarek Hassanein and Basma Hegazy, for 15 days pending investigations of lawsuit No. 184 of 2023 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Supreme State Security Prosecution interrogated the well-known content creators Warda and Chocolata regarding their video \u201cThe Visit\u201d in which they participated. The content of the video revolves around a detained person over his argument with a person of authority. All those who participated in the video were arrested as well. On May 14, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Ahmed Tarek Hassanein, known as \u201cChocolata\u201d and Basma Hegazy, known as \u201cWarda,\u201d for 15 days pending investigations of lawsuit No. 184 of 2023 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

After their arrest for posting a <\/span>sarcastic video<\/span><\/a>; the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided on Sunday\u2019s hearing to renew the detention of the two Alexandrian content creators, Ahmed Tarek Hassanein and Basma Hegazy, who are known on social media as \u201cChocolata\u201d and \u201cWarda\u201d. Their pretrial detention was renewed for 15 days pending investigations of case No. 184 of 2023 (Supreme State Security).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chocolata and Warda were known on social media for posting sarcastic and humorous videos with other content creators; they were arrested after their video \u201cthe visit\u201d went viral where a role was played featuring someone inside prison for roughshod over a person in power, who was referred in the video as \u201cthe governor\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It should be noted that everyone who played in this video was arrested and facing the same accusations of joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, spreading false news and information, and using social media accounts to spread false news and information.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

16 April 2023 “Supreme State Security Prosecution renews the detention of two content creators Ahmed Tarek \u201cChocolata\u201d and Basma Hegazy \u201cWarda\u201d for 15 days for posting sarcastic video”\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On April 16, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of the two content creators, Ahmed Tarek Hassanein, known as \u201cChocolata\u201d and Basma Hegazy, known as \u201cWarda,\u201d for 15 days pending investigations of lawsuit No. 184 of 2023 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

The prosecution has accused the two content creators of joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, spreading false news and information, and using social media accounts to spread false news and information, shortly after a sarcastic video of them went viral titled \u201cthe visit\u201d where Warda visits her detained fianc\u00e9 ride roughshod over \u201cthe governor\u201d, two other content creator, Mohamed Hossam, and Ahmed Hossam ElKhouly, appeared in the video and are convicted in the same lawsuit and face the same accusations.<\/span><\/p>\n

29 January 2023 “Supreme State Security Prosecution detains content creators Mohamed Hossam El-Din \u201cBessa\u201d and Basma Hegazy \u201cWarda\u201d for 15 days”<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On January 29, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to detain the two content creator, Mohamed Hossam El-Din, known as \u201cBessa\u201d and Basma Hegazy, known as \u201cWarda\u201d for 15 days, pending investigations into case No. 184 of 2023 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

The two Alexandrian content creators were arrested after a sarcastic video of<\/a> them went viral, where Hossam plays the role of a prisoner during Basma\u2019s visit to him. The prosecution interrogated them about this video and charged them with joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, spreading false news and information, and using social media accounts to spread false news and information.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
