The Supreme State Security Prosecution<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

On February 12, the Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of human rights lawyer Ahmed Nazeer El-Helw, for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 1940 of 2020 (Supreme State Security). In which El-Helw is charged with joining a terrorist group.<\/p>\n

February 13 hearings:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed Mohamed Mahmoud Abou Mandour\u2019s detention for 15 days pending investigations of case No. 2216 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).
\nLast November, Abou Mandour was arrested for sharing several political posts on social media. The prosecution charged him with joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its aims, committing the crime of financing terrorism, inciting to commit a terrorist act, spreading false news and information that would disturb public peace and order, and using an account on social media to commit a terrorist crime.<\/p>\n

The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of the doctor at the National Research Center, Hamed Sedeek, for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 2207 of 2021 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).
\nSedeek was listed in the case after he spent three years in pretrial detention pending another case with the same previous charges, which are joining a terrorist group, spreading false news and information, and misusing social media.<\/p>\n

In another context, the Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed Mohamed Raafat Nasr\u2019s detention for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 1977 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).
\nNasr was arrested on November 2; he was interrogated before the prosecution five days later, which in turn charged him with joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, using social media to call for a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement intended to commit a terrorist crime, incitement to commit a terrorist crime, publishing and spreading false news and information.<\/p>\n

In the same context, the Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed Mohamed Abdel Aal Abou El-Dahab\u2019s detention for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 2094 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).<\/p>\n

Abou El-Dahab was arrested on November 10, and he was illegally detained till he was brought before the prosecution on November 15, which charged him with joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, using social media to promote a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement to commit a terrorist crime (demonstrations), inciting to commit a terrorist crime (demonstrations), and spreading false news and statements.<\/p>\n

On February 16, the Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed Ahmed Abdel Mageed Oraby\u2019s detention for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 2094 of 2022 (Supreme State Security). Oraby’s defense demanded to open an investigation with Badr\u2019s prison administration as they didn\u2019t implement the prosecution\u2019s decision to refer Oraby to an orthopedics and neurology doctor.<\/p>\n

Oraby faces charges of joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its aims, committing the crime of financing terrorism, inciting to commit a terrorist crime, participating in the criminal agreement to commit a terrorist crime, spreading false news and information, and using an account on the Internet to commit a terrorist crime.<\/p>\n

Criminal Courts<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

On February 13, the Criminal Court (the Council Chamber) renewed Mohamed Mahfouz Abdul Latif\u2019s detention for 45 days, pending investigations of case No. 2000 of 2021 (Supreme State Security).
\nSecurity forces arrested Abdul Latif from his workplace in August 2021. He faces charges of joining a terrorist group (Ultras White Knights), publishing false news and information, and using social media to spread false information.<\/p>\n
