March 13 hearings:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of Mohamed Abdel Aal Abou El-Dahab for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 2094 of 2022 (Supreme State Security). Security forces arrested Abou El-Dahab on November 10. He faces charges of joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, using social media to promote a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement to commit a terrorist crime (demonstrations), inciting to commit a terrorist crime (demonstrations), and spreading false news and statements.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0In a similar context, the Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of Mohamed Mahmoud Abo Mandour for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 2216 of 2022 (State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

Security forces arrested Abo Mandour against the backdrop of sharing posts where he expresses his political opinions and was tortured after his arrest; Abo Mandour is charged with joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its aims, committing the crime of financing terrorism, inciting to commit a terrorist act, spreading false news and information that would disturb public peace and order, using an account on social media to commit a terrorist crime.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

the Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed Mohamed Raafat Nasr Taha\u2019s detention for 15 days pending investigations of case No. 1977 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Nasr was arrested from Alexandria governorate on November 2; five days later, he appeared before the prosecution and faces charges of joining a terrorist group, committing the crime of financing terrorism, using social media to call for a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement intended to commit a terrorist crime, incitement to commit a terrorist crime, publishing and spreading false news and information.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Borg El-Arab Prosecution in Alexandria renewed the detention of master\u2019s student Moaaz Rizk for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative).<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Security forces arrested Rizk on November 2 after he was stopped at a police checkpoint in Alexandria, where they searched his mobile phone. He faced charges of joining a terrorist group and possessing publications that promoted its ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Criminal Courts<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

March 13 hearings:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

The Criminal Court (Second Terrorism Circuit) renewed the detention of translator Marwa Arafa for 45 days in connection with case No. 570 of 2020 (Supreme State Security) as her third year in pretrial detention approaches.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Security forces arrested Arafa from her house on April 20, 2020; Arafa completes three years in pretrial detention in a few days; it should be noted that the maximum period of pretrial detention in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure is two years. Arafa faces charges of joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its purposes and committing a finance crime for a terrorist purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Criminal Court (Second Terrorism Circuit) renewed the detention of student Mohamed Ahmed Saad, for 45 days, pending investigations of case No. 930 of 2019 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

Security forces arrested Saad from the Faculty of Commerce, Al-Azhar University, on May 17, 2019, against charges of joining a terrorist group, financing this group, spreading false news and information, and using a social media account to spread false news.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On March 14, Zagazig Criminal Court (the Council Chamber) renewed the detention of Omar Mahmoud Al-Hout for 45 days in connection with Case No. 24978 of 2021 (Abo Hamad Misdemeanors).<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Security forces arrested Al-Hout on November 23, 2014, from a pharmacy he worked in Nasr City, against the backdrop of his student activity at Zagazig University despite his cessation from any student or political activity a year and a half before his arrest, Al-Hout was listed into 6 different cases since his arrest took place, even after he had several releases order. Al-Hout faces charges of joining a terrorist group and possessing publications that promote its ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On March 15, the Criminal Court (the Council Chamber) renewed the detention of the journalist at Al-Bawaba News newspaper, Karim Ebrahim, for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 569 of 2020 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).<\/span><\/p>\n

Ebrahim was arrested on April 14, 2020, against the backdrop of the clashes in the Alamiria district. He faces charges of joining a terrorist group.<\/span><\/p>\n
