The Cairo Criminal Court (First Circuit \u2013 Badr Criminal Court) decided to postpone<\/span> the trial session of case No. <\/span>191 of 2023 (Supreme State Security)<\/span>, in which Khaled Abdel Wahed Amin, a member of former presidential candidate Ahmed Tantawy\u2019s campaign, is accused, to sessions on 5, 6, 7 and 19 September and 4 October 2026 to hear the defense\u2019s pleadings after the court had heard only one lawyer\u2019s argument. <\/span>

\n<\/span>Amin was arrested at his home on 27 August 2023 as part of a wide security sweep targeting Tantawi\u2019s supporters, campaign members, relatives, and friends. He faces charges of joining a terrorist organization, publishing and broadcasting false news and statements harmful to public security and order, and using social\u2011media accounts to publish and broadcast false news and statements.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cairo Criminal Court (First Circuit \u2013 Badr Criminal Court) decided to postpone the trial of Khaled Abdel Wahed Amin, a member of Ahmed Tantawy\u2019s presidential campaign, to 13 June 2026 to hear the defense\u2019s pleadings, following the prosecution\u2019s arguments heard today.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amin was arrested at his home on 27 August 2023 during a broad security operation targeting supporters, campaign members, relatives, and associates of Ahmed Tantawy following Tantawy\u2019s announcement of his candidacy for the presidential elections. The State Security Prosecution included him in case No. 191 of 2023 (State Security Registry), charging him with joining a terrorist organization, publishing false news harmful to public order, and using social\u2011media accounts to publish and broadcast false news.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n2 March 2026<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The Cairo Criminal Court (First Circuit \u2013 Badr Criminal Court) decided to postpone the trial of Khaled Abdel Wahed Amin, a member of Ahmed Tantawy\u2019s presidential campaign, who is detained pending investigations in Case No. 191 of 2023 (Supreme State Security Case Registry), to 17 May 2026 for the defense pleadings. During today\u2019s session, the court heard and examined the prosecution witnesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a previous session on 17 January 2026, the court had postponed the case to 2 March 2026 to hear the prosecution witnesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amin was arrested from his home on 27 August 2023, as part of a wide security campaign targeting supporters of Ahmed Tantawy, members of his campaign, as well as his relatives and friends, during the period when Tantawy announced his candidacy for the presidential elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amin faces charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news and statements that could harm security and public order, and using a social media account to publish and disseminate false news and statements.<\/span><\/p>\n

Security forces arrested Amin last month as a part of its continued security targeting of Al-Tantawy\u2019s supporters; the prosecution had interrogated him over posts from his personal Facebook account.<\/p>\n

Amin was arrested from his house on August 27 and presented before the prosecution on the same day. The Public Prosecution interrogated him about posts on his personal Facebook account sharing his political and economic views. Afterward, the prosecution accused him of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news and information that would harm public peace and order, and using a social media account to spread false news and information.<\/p>\n
