He was held incommunicado, with his family and lawyer unaware of his whereabouts, until he was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on 28 October 2023 and ordered his pretrial detention.<\/p>\n<p>He faced charges of joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its objectives; participating in an assembly aimed at harming public security and order and changing the system of governance by force; using force and violence against a public official to compel him to refrain from performing his official duties for a terrorist purpose; and damaging public and private property, movable and immovable, in furtherance of a terrorist objective<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>11 March 2026<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Cairo Criminal Court, Second Terrorism Circuit, convened at the Badr Security Complex, decided on 16 December 2025 to renew the detention of Ali Mohamed Ali Abu El-Majd, a fourth-year student at Al-Azhar University\u2019s Faculty of Sharia and Law, for 45 days pending investigation in case No. 2468 of 2023 (State Security Case). To accomplish a terrorist purpose, the defendant destroyed public and private property, both immovable and movable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">December 2, 2023<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Ali Mohmed Ali Abo ElMajd, a student in the fourth year of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Azhar University, for 15 days, in Case No. 2468 of 2023 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Security forces arrested Abo ElMajd on October 21 of this year, from his home in the Bulaq Al Dakrur area, due to his participation in the demonstrations in support of Palestine. He remained detained in an unknown place to his family and lawyer until his presentation to the Supreme State Security Prosecution on the 28th of the same month, which proceeded with investigations with him and decided to detain him in pretrial detention for 15 days, pending investigations. The prosecution charged Abo ElMajd with joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its purposes and participating in a gathering intended to harm public safety and order, changing the government system through force, and forcing a public employee to refrain from performing one of his duties through intimidation and violence.
