Since his arrest, Tawfiq has shown several serious physical symptoms suggesting an illness, and he has faced significant obstruction from the medical center affiliated with the Reform and Rehabilitation Center in implementing the prosecution\u2019s orders to have him examined by a specialist doctor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tawfiq was arrested on February 26, 2026, and remained unlawfully detained for two days before being brought before the investigative authorities. On May 3, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Mostafa Ahmed Ramadan Tawfiq for 15 days pending investigations in case No. 945 of 2026 (State Security Registry). During the session, Tawfiq stated that he had been referred to the medical center of the Correction and Rehabilitation Facility, where he underwent medical examinations after more than a month and a half of delays and obstruction in allowing him to be examined by a specialist doctor, despite his health condition having deteriorated significantly.<\/span>

\n<\/span>AFTE\u2019s legal team requested that the Correction and Rehabilitation Facility be urged to submit the results of Tawfiq\u2019s medical tests to the prosecution, as he has not yet been informed of them. \n9 April 2026 “AFTE submits Petition to the Public Prosecutor Calling for Release of Detainee Suspected of Having Bladder Cancer.”\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On April 9, 2026, the legal team of the Association for Freedom of Thought and Expression (AFTE), acting on behalf of its client, Mostafa Ahmed Ramadan Tawfiq, submitted an electronic petition, registered under No. 1645786\/2026 (Petitions \u2013 Technical Office of the Public Prosecutor), to report the 10th of Ramadan Correctional and Rehabilitation Center’s negligence in implementing the Supreme State Security Prosecution\u2019s decisions and in providing necessary medical care for Tawfiq.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>The petition explained that Tawfiq, who’s suspected of having bladder cancer and was undergoing treatment, was arrested on February 26, 2026, at his home. Since his first hearing, he has requested to be transferred to a hospital for urgent treatment, but the order has not been carried out to date. \n5 April 2026 “Prosecution Ignores Mostafa Ramadan\u2019s Request for Medical Care and Renews his Detention for 15 Days; Defense Holds Prison Accountable for his Poor Health Conditions”\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On April 5, the Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of Mostafa Ahmed Ramadan Tawfiq for 15 days pending investigations in lawsuit No. 945 of 2026 (Supreme State Security). For the third time, the prison administration ignored the prosecution\u2019s decision to refer him to the prison hospital for necessary medical treatment.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>During the hearing, Ramadan complained about his deteriorating health condition due to the prison\u2019s refusal to grant him his prescribed medication. Although his family had delivered the appropriate medication to the Correction and Rehabilitation Center in 10th of Ramadan City, where he\u2019s detained, the prison administration refused to hand it over to him up to the date of the hearing. His defense requested an investigation into the reasons for the refusal to implement the prosecution’s decision and held the prison administration accountable for any harm that might befall him due to medical neglect. Notably, he had previously been examined at the prison hospital before the Eid al-Fitr holiday, where the doctor recommended placing him under medical observation for 24 hours, but this recommendation was ignored.<\/span>

The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Mostafa Ahmed Ramadan Tawfiq for 15 days pending investigations in lawsuit No. 945 of 2026 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

During the hearing session, the defendant complained that the prosecution\u2019s decision to refer him to the prison hospital for necessary medical treatment had not been implemented. He explained that he had previously been examined at the hospital before the Eid al-Fitr holiday, where the doctor recommended placing him under medical observation for 24 hours. However, this recommendation had not been carried out until now. His lawyers reiterated their request to have the defendant examined at the prison hospital, placed under medical observation, and provided with appropriate treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n7 April 2024<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release Mustafa Ahmed Ramadan, guaranteed by his residence place, pending investigations in Digital Case No. 1277 of 2024, Supreme State Security, because of his participation in the solidarity stand with the Palestinian cause on the stairs of the Journalists Syndicate on 3 April.<\/span><\/p>\n

The prosecution charged Mustafa with participating in a terrorist group in achieving its goals, and publishing and broadcasting false news and statements, in order to harm security and public order.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mustafa was arrested at dawn on 4 April 2024 from his home after a police force went to his home during his absence, and he returned home after a phone call from his father.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning that the prosecution confronted Mustafa with pictures on his mobile phone, which were taken of him while he was participating in the protest, and Mustafa admitted that he owned the phone.<\/span><\/p>\n
