{"id":37047,"date":"2024-04-15T12:23:28","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T10:23:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afteegypt.org\/?p=37047"},"modified":"2024-04-15T12:23:28","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T10:23:28","slug":"aftes-weekly-legal-bulletin-714-april-2024-release-of-two-defendants-who-were-arrested-for-participating-in-pro-gaza-demonstrations-in-front-of-the-journalists-syndicate-and-renewal-of-t","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afteegypt.org\/en\/legal-profiles-en\/weekly-legal-bulletin-en-2\/2024\/04\/15\/37047-afteegypt.html","title":{"rendered":"AFTE\u2019s Weekly Legal Bulletin (7:14 April 2024)|: Release of two defendants who were arrested for participating in pro-Gaza demonstrations in front of the Journalists Syndicate and renewal of the detention of a mosque&#8217;s custodian pending investigations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"background-color: #800000; color: #ffffff;\"><b>7 April 2024<\/b> <b>session<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>Supreme State Security Prosecution<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release Ahmed Abdel Karim Mohamed Ahmed, guaranteed by his residence place, pending investigations in Case No. 1277 of 2024, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supreme State Security<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, on charges of participating in a terrorist group and participating in a gathering.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ahmed, 27 years old, had traveled from his home in Hurghada Governorate the day before to participate in the protest against the war on Gaza, which was organized on the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stairs<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Journalists Syndicate, and he was arrested from a checkpoint in Ras Gharib in Hurghada Governorate, during his return home.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release Mustafa Ahmed Ramadan, guaranteed by his residence place, pending investigations in Digital Case No. 1277 of 2024, Supreme State Security, because of his participation in the solidarity stand with the Palestinian cause on the stairs of the Journalists Syndicate on 3 April.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The prosecution charged Mustafa with participating in a terrorist group in achieving its goals, and publishing and broadcasting false news and statements, in order to harm security and public order.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mustafa was arrested at dawn on 4 April 2024 from his home after a police force went to his home during his absence, and he returned home after a phone call from his father.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is worth mentioning that the prosecution confronted Mustafa with pictures on his mobile phone, which were taken of him while he was participating in the protest, and Mustafa admitted that he owned the phone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: #800000; color: #ffffff;\"><b>8 April 2024<\/b> <b>session<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><b>Misdemeanor Court of Appeals<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Al-Darb Al-Ahmar Misdemeanor Court of Appeals decided to cancel the release of Khaled Jalal Helmy and renew the detention of him for 15 days pending investigations in Case No. 1113 of 2024, Al Darb Al-Ahmar misdemeanor, on charges of joining a terrorist group and possessing ammunition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The decision came after Rawd Al-Farag Misdemeanor Court had decided in the April 7 session to release Khaled, before Al Darb Al-Ahmar Prosecution appealed the release decision, and the appeal was heard in the April 8 session.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On February 27, the North Cairo Criminal Court released Helmy, and decided to replace detention with a precautionary measure, but Rowd Al-Farag Police Station did not implement the decision, and Khaled was detained in the department until he was presented with a new case.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Helmy is a mosque&#8217;s custodian, from the Sahel Rowd al-Farag, and he is 50 years old.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>7 April 2024 session Supreme State Security Prosecution The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release Ahmed Abdel Karim Mohamed Ahmed, guaranteed by his residence place, pending investigations in Case No. 1277 of 2024, Supreme State Security, on charges of participating in a terrorist group and participating in a gathering.
