The Cairo Criminal Court (Second Criminal Circuit) adjourned consideration of case No. 1282 of 2024 (State Security Prosecution), in which journalist and MBC presenter Khaled Mamdouh is accused, to 14 September 2026 to review the case and prepare for defense requests.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the session, the Supreme State Security Prosecution read the referral order against Mamdouh, who denied all charges, which include joining a terrorist organization with knowledge of its purposes, using an online platform to promote ideas inciting terrorist acts, and committing acts of terrorist financing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mamdouh\u2019s defense requested a copy of the case file and his release under any guarantee the court deems appropriate pending trial. Mamdouh was arrested on 16 July 2024 after security forces raided his home, subjected him to enforced disappearance for six days, and presented him to the prosecution on 21 July 2024. He has remained in pretrial detention until his referral to criminal trial.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Mamdouh was arrested at 2 a.m. on July 16, 2024, when a security force raided his home and physically assaulted some family members.
