19 January Session<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Supreme State Security Prosecution<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of a defendant for 15 days pending investigations. He is:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1- <\/span>Yasser Ibrahim Ibrahim AlNosery<\/span><\/a>, pending investigations in Case No. 5055 of 2024 (State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

AlNosery faces charges of belonging to a terrorist organization, financing said organization, using an online account to commit a crime, and misusing communication tools.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was arrested on 12 October 2024 and brought before the prosecution for questioning on 28 October. The accused is a doctor residing in Gharbia Governorate and is currently held in Al-Ashir Prison 6.<\/span><\/p>\n

21 January Sessions<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Criminal Court<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The Cairo Criminal Court has renewed the detention of 4 defendants for 45 days and acquitted one defendant. They are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1- <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Mahmoud Gamal Abo Sree<\/span><\/a>, investigations of lawsuit No. 508 of 2023 (Supreme State Security).<\/span><\/p>\n

Security forces arrested Abo Sree On December 19, 2023, from Borg ElArab Airport while returning from abroad to spend a vacation with his family, he was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on December 20, 2023, and was charged with joining a terrorist group while knowing its purposes, and publishing and broadcasting false news and information that would harm security and public order\u2014and using an account on international information networks for publishing and posting false news and information.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is also worth noting that he was not confronted with any seizures, nor was he confronted with any news or publications concerning him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2- <\/span>Yasser Mohamed Fouad Shaheen<\/span><\/a>, pending investigations in Case No. 2810 of 2024, Supreme State Security.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shaheen was arrested on June 29 due to posts on his Facebook account. He remained unlawfully detained in an undisclosed location, unknown to his family, until he was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on July 16, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

The prosecution charged him with joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its purposes, publishing and broadcasting false news and statements that could harm security and public order and using a social media account to disseminate false news.<\/span><\/p>\n

The prosecution confronted Shaheen with his mobile phone and Facebook posts, which discussed the economic situation in Egypt, Egypt\u2019s stance on supporting the Palestinian cause, and political opinions on some government decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3- <\/span>Asmaa Mohamed Zakariya<\/span><\/a>, pending investigations in Case No. 2810 of 2024, Supreme State Security Prosecution.<\/span><\/p>\n

On June 29, 2024, Asmaa turned herself in at the police station near to her home after a police force visited her home in her absence. She was stopped there unlawfully until she was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on July 3, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

The prosecution has charged her with joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its aims, spreading false news and statements that could harm public security, and using a social media account to spread and broadcast false information.<\/span><\/p>\n

The prosecution challenged her with several posts about the electricity outage crisis on her Facebook account, and she was also confronted with her mobile phone, which she admitted to owning.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth noting that Asmaa is a mother of two young children, for whom she is responsible.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

4- <\/span>Ahmed Essam Abbas<\/span><\/a>, pending investigations in Case No. 2810 of 2024, Supreme State Security.<\/span><\/p>\n

Abbas was arrested on June 29, 2024, due to posts on his Facebook account that included a comparison of commodity and service prices between 2013 and 2024. He remained unlawfully detained in an undisclosed location, unknown to his family, until he was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on July 16, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

22 January Sessions<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Criminal Court<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The Cairo Criminal Court has renewed the detention of 2 defendants for 45 days and acquitted one defendant. They are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1- <\/span>Ahmed Abdel Mageed Oraby<\/span><\/a>, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 2094 of 2022 (Supreme State Security), in which Oraby is accused of sharing Facebook discussing poor living conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oraby lost his eye in the clashes of Mohamed Mahmoud Street, and he was previously imprisoned for a year and a half. This time, he was arrested in November 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He faces accusations of joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its purposes, committing a terrorist financing crime, inciting a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement to commit a terrorist crime, spreading false news and statements, and using an account on social media to commit a crime.<\/span><\/p>\n

2- <\/span>Poet Galal ElBehairy<\/span><\/a>, pending the investigation of lawsuit No. 2000 of 2021 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the third lawsuit against ElBehairy after his arrest for writing the song \u201cBalaha,\u201d which criticizes the current president’s policies.<\/span><\/p>\n

ElBehairy was arrested on March 3, 2018, against accusations in two lawsuits.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He was released from the first one, No. 480 of 2018, with precautionary measures on 17 April 2019. He was referred to a military court for the second lawsuit and sentenced to three years in prison, which ended on 31 July 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the Ministry of Interior refrained from implementing the procedures for ElBehairy\u2019s release, and he remained illegally detained.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Supreme State Security Prosecution interrogated ElBehairy in a new lawsuit, no. 2000 of 2021, and he remains in pretrial detention on similar accusations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
