Pretrial Detention of Activist Hazem Abdel Azim Extended for 45 Days

Giza Criminal Court extended the detention of activist Hazem Abdel Azim for 45 days pending case 734/2018. 

Abdel Azim is charged with joining a terrorist group, promoting its ideologies on social media, and spreading false news. 

6 November 2018 

Cairo Criminal Court rejected the Association for Freedom of Thought and Expression’s appeal on the 45-day pretrial detention order of activist Hazem Abdel Azim’s pending case 734/2018. 

Abdel Azim is charged with joining a terrorist group and promoting its ideologies on social media as well as spreading false news. 

21 June 2018

High State Security Prosecution has renewed the detention of the engineer Hazem Abd-Elazim, 15 days pending investigation. Abd-Elazim is charged with Joining a terrorist group, promoting it’s ideas on social media and spreading false news, in lawsuit number 734/2018 HSSP.
