Giza Criminal Court is to announce the verdict of journalist Ahmed Ali Abdel Aziz’s trial to January 31.
Abdel Aziz along with other defendants are prosecuted for launching a campaign asking President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to refrain from running 2018 presidential election.
The defendants are accused of affiliation with an illegal terrorist group, promoting the group’s ideologies, and publishing false news. They are being prosecuted pending case 1/2018 Emergency State Security which is registered with number 92/2018 State Security and 1102/2017 Higher State Security.
