Benha: Court Extends Citizen’s Detention for His Activities on Social Media

Benha Criminal Court handed Mahmoud Emam another 45-day pretrial detention order pending lawsuit 1959/2018. The court scheduled February 14 to reconsider further renewal of  Emam’s remand. 

Emam is charged with joining a terrorist group, circulating fake news, and possessing anti-state flyers. From his side, Emam told AFTE’s lawyer that the main reason behind his detention is his posts on social media.

Benha’s first court has renewed Mahmoud Mohamed Emam’s pretrial detention of for 45 days pending lawsuit 1959/2018.
