Detention of Photographer Ahmed Tarek (Arnoub) Extended for 45 Days

Giza Criminal Court extended yesterday the pretrial detention of photographer Ahmed Tarek for 45 days pending investigations in case 467/2018.

Tarek, known as Arnoub (pet name for a rabbit), is accused of joining a terrorist group and circulating false news. He was detained in February after the police had raided his house. Then he disappeared for 5 days before his interrogations begins.

High State Security Prosecution has decided the detention of Ahmed Tarek aka Arnoub for 15 days pending investigation. Tariq is charged with “joining a terrorist group and spreading false news”, in lawsuit number 467/2018 HSSP.

Police forces had invaded Tariq’s house and forcibly disappeared him. After a 5 day enforced disappearance, the defendant finally was brought before the prosecution.
