Renewing the detention of four defendants for 45 days pending investigations

The Criminal Court decided, in the  February 28 session, to renew the detention of “Akram Mostafa Farouk, Mohammad Abd Ellah Mokhaimer, Mohammad Ahmed Mansour, and the lawyer Walid El-Sayed Elgendy for 45 days pending investigations into case No. 1956 of 2019, Supreme Security. The defendants are accused of joining a terrorist group, publishing, and spreading false news and information, and the misuse of social media.

The Criminal Court decided, in the August 6 session, to release Dr. Khaled Azab, head of the Central Projects and Services Sector in Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Emad Fathi, member of the Socialist Popular Alliance Party in Alexandria, with precautionary measures in Case No. 1956 of 2019 Supreme State Security. The defendants are accused of joining a terrorist group, publishing and broadcasting false news and information, and the misuse of social media.

19 July 2020

The Criminal Court decided, in the July 18 session, to renew the detention of Akram Mostafa Farouq, for 45 days pending investigations into case No. 1956 of 2019, Supreme State Security.

Akram Mostafa Farouk, a sales representative, was arrested by the security forces in Alexandria on January 22 of 2020. He was charged with “joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.”
