Mohamed Safani Kobeisy released; the detention of two others renewed

On May 9, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to release Mohamed Safani Kobeisy under the guarantee of his residence and to renew the detention of both Hussein Ali Hussein and Mahmoud Mostafa Mahmoud for 45 days in connection with Case No. 65 of 2021 (Supreme State Security).

Notably, on December 13, 2020, the Criminal Court issued a decision to release Kobeisy pending case No. 751 of 2020 (Supreme State Security); however, the decision never passed, and he was rotated in the current case.

The three defendants face charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing an account on social media to spread false news.

8 February 2022 “Criminal Court renews the detention of three defendants”

On February 8, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of Mohamed Safani Kobeisy, Hussein Ali Hussein, and Mahmoud Mostafa Mahmoud, for 45 days in connection with Case No. 65 of 2021 (Supreme State Security).

It should be noted that The Criminal Court had previously released Kobeisy with precautionary measures in connection with Case No. 751 of 2020, The decision, however, never passed, and he was unlawfully detained at El-Maragha Police Station until he was transferred to Sohag Security Directorate to remain in detention for several days until he was brought before the prosecution in connection with the new case.

The investigations charged them with joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and using a social media account for the aim of spreading false news.

9 October 2021

Saturday, October 9, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) considered the detention order of both “Mohamed Safani Kobeisy” and “Hussein Ali Hussein” and ordered to extend it for 45 days.

 This came pending Case No. 65 of 2021 (Supreme State Security).

Notably, The Criminal Court had previously released “Kobeisy” with precautionary measures in connection with Case No. 751 of 2020, The decision, however, never passed, and he was unlawfully detained at El-Maragha Police Station until he was transferred to Sohag Security Directorate to remain in detention for several days until he was brought before the prosecution pending the new case.

The investigations charged them with joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing a social media website for the aim of spreading false news.

30 August 2021

The Council Chamber of the Criminal Court, held at Institute of Police Secretaries in Tura, considered the detention order of both “Mohamed Safani Kobeisy” and “Hussein Ali Hussein”, and ordered to renew their detention for 45 extra days, this came pending Case No. 65 of 2021 Supreme State Security Prosecution, The mentioned court considered the order to renew the detention on Monday, August 30, 2021, in the presence of AFTE’s lawyer.

The investigations charged them with joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing a social media website for the aim of spreading false news.

It should be noted that “Kobeisy” was detained pending Case No. 751 of 2020 for 5 months until The Council Chamber of The Criminal Court issued a judgment on December 13, 2020, to release him with precautionary measures, but the judgment wasn’t implemented, he was unlawfully detained at El-Maragha Police Station until he was transferred to Sohag Security Directorate, to remain in detention for several days until he was brought before the prosecution pending the new case.

13 July 2021

The Council Chamber of the Criminal Court considered the detention order of both “Mohamed Safani Kobeisy Marzouk” and “Hussein Ali Hussein”, and ordered to renew their detention for 45 extra days, this came pending Case No. 65 of 2021 Supreme State Security, The mentioned court considered the order to renew the defendants’ detention on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, in the presence of AFTE’s lawyer.

In which they’re charged with joining a terrorist group, spreading false news and statements, using a social media account for the purpose of spreading false news and statements.

It should be noted that “Kobeisy” was detained pending Case No. 751 of 2020 for 5 months until The Council Chamber of The Criminal Court issued a judgment on December 13, 2020, to release him with precautionary measures, but the judgment wasn’t implemented, he was unlawfully detained at El-Maragha Police Station until he was transferred to Sohag Security Directorate, to remain in detention for several days until he was brought before the prosecution pending the new case.
