EL Marg court of misdemeanor sentenced Alber Saber Ayad today to three years imprisonment and a fine of 1000 LE for defamation of religion. The court also rejected the civil claim against him be a number of citizens.

The prosecution had accused Alber Saber Ayad of disseminating through the internet of material that is punishable by articles 98, 102, 160 and 161 of the criminal law, all of which concern the crimes of defamation of religion and inciting thrive.

AFTE lawyer said that Alber Saber Ayad should be released upon paying the fine pending the decision of the court of appeal, procedures of both are being currently undertaken.
