After more than a year in pretrial detention, Supreme State Security Prosecution released of 61 years old journalist Manal Agrama

The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release journalist Manal Agrama, after being held in pretrial detention for more than a year pending investigations of lawsuit No. 1893 of 2022 (Supreme State Security). 

The demands for Agrama’s release have increased since her father passed away in February to take care of her elderly mother. Agrama also suffers from several health problems in her spine, which have worsened due to her continued detention and medical neglect. 

Security forces arrested Agrama in November; Because of her political views. She faces accusations of joining and financing a terrorist group, inciting a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement aimed at committing a terrorist act, and using social media to promote a terrorist act.

The Criminal Court (Second Circuit) renewed the detention of journalist Manal Agrama, for 45 days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 1893 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).

On Sunday’s hearing, the Criminal Court (First Circuit) renewed the detention of journalist Manal Agrama, for 45 days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 1893 of 2022 (Supreme State Security). 

The demands for Agrama’s release have increased since her father passed away in February to take care of her elderly mother. Agrama also suffers from several health problems in her spine, which have worsened due to her continued detention and medical neglect.

6 February 2023 “Supreme State Security Prosecution renews the detention of journalist Manal Agrama for 15 days” 

On February 6, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of journalist Manal Agrama for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 1893 of 2022 (Supreme State Security). 

The 60 years old, Agrama suffers from several problems in her spine and other health problems due to her detention; she was arrested from her house on November 1, 2022, and faces chagres of joining and financing a terrorist group, inciting a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement aimed at committing a terrorist act, and using social media to promote a terrorist act. 

12 December 2022 

In the hearing of December 12, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of the journalist  Manal Agrama for 15 days in connection with case No. 1893 of 2020 (State Security). AFTE’s lawyer and Defaa law firm’s lawyer attended the hearing with Agrama. 

Security forces arrested Agrama on November 1 from her house in the fifth settlement district. Agrama suffers from health problems in her spine and the deterioration of her health due to her detention. She faces charges of joining and financing a terrorist group, inciting a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement aimed at committing a terrorist act, and using social media to promote a terrorist act. 

28 November 2022

On November 28,  the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of the journalist and former deputy editor-in-chief of the Radio and Television Magazine, Manal Agrama, for 15 days in connection with case No. 1893 of 2020 (State Security). AFTE’s lawyer and Defaa law firm’s lawyer attended the interrogations with Agrama. 

On the first of November, police forces arrested the 60 years old Agrama from her house in the fifth settlement district. The Supreme State Security Prosecution charges Agrama with joining and financing a terrorist group, inciting a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement aimed at committing a terrorist act, and using social media to promote a terrorist act. 

14 November 2022 “Supreme State Security Prosecution renews the detention of journalist Manal Agrama for 15 days” 

On November 14, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of the 60 years old journalist and former deputy editor-in-chief of the Radio and Television Magazine, Manal Agrama, for 15 days in connection with case No. 1893 of 2020 (State Security).

Security forces arrested Agrama on November the 1st from her house in the 5th settlement. the Supreme State Security Prosecution charged her with joining and financing a terrorist group, inciting a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement aimed at committing a terrorist act, and using social media to promote a terrorist act. 

3 November 2022 “Supreme State Security Prosecution conducts investigations with journalist Manal Agrama and detains her for 15 days” 

On November 3, the Supreme State Security Prosecution conducted its first interrogation session with journalist and former deputy editor-in-chief of the Radio and Television Magazine, Manal Agrama, and decided to detain her for 15 days into case No. 1893 of 2020 (State Security). AFTE’s lawyer and Defaa law firm’s lawyer attended the interrogations with Agrama. 

After the interrogation session, Agrama was transported to al-Qanater prison for women. the Supreme State Security Prosecution charges Agrama with joining and financing a terrorist group, inciting a terrorist act, participating in a criminal agreement aimed at committing a terrorist act, and using social media to promote a terrorist act.
