The Criminal Court (Second Circuit) decided to renew the detention of Momtaz Ahmed Lotfy for 45 days, pending investigations of case No. 1539 of 2022 (State Security).

On March 29, the Criminal Court (Third Circuit) decided to renew the detention of Momtaz Ahmed Lotfy for 45 days, pending investigations of case No. 1539 of 2022 (State Security).

On January 3, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Momtaz Ahmed Lotfy for 15 days, in connection with case No. 1539 of 2022 (State Security). In which Lotfy is convicted after posting a video regarding the Gamasa Prison fire, despite publishing a denial of the news afterward.
Lotfy was arrested on August 21 from his house in Zagzig and illegally detained until he was brought before the prosecution on September 5. The Prosecution charged him with joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.

On December 20, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of defendant Momtaz Ahmed Lotfy for 15 days, in connection with case No. 1539 of 2022 (State Security).
Security forces arrested Lotfy from his house in Zagazig on August 21 after posting about the fire that broke out in Gamasa prison on his Facebook profile.
Lotfy was interrogated before the Supreme State Security Prosecution for the first time on September 5, which decided to list him in the case mentioned above and to detain him for 15 days. Lotfy stated that he published a denial of the news after that, and he is currently facing charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.
