Supreme State Security Prosecution renews Momtaz Ahmed Lotfy’s detention for 15 days; for posting video about Gamasa Prison fire

On November 22, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Momtaz Ahmed Lotfy for 15 days, in connection with investigations of case No. 1539 of 2022 (State Security). 

Security forces arrested Lotfy on August 21, from his house in Zagazig City against the backdrop of publishing a video about Gamasa Prison fire; despite publishing a denial of the news afterwards. The Supreme State Security Prosecution interrogated him for the first time on September 5, and charged him with  joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.

On November 8, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Momtaz Ahmed Lotfy for 15 days in connection with case No. 1539 of 2022 State Security. 

Security forces arrested Lotfy from his house in Zagazig on August 21, he appeared before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on September 5, which in turn charged him with  joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.
