Master’s student Moaaz Rizk released on 3,000 EGP bail

On May 10, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release Moaaz Rizk on a 3,000 Egyptian pounds, pending lawsuit No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative).

Police forces arrested Rizk after he was forced to stop to search his mobile phone at a police checkpoint in Alexandria. He faced charges of joining a terrorist group and possessing publications that promoted its ideas.

13 March 2023 “Borg El-Arab Prosecution in Alexandria renews the detention of master’s student Moaaz Rizk for 15 days” 

On March 13, Borg El-Arab Prosecution in Alexandria decided to renew the detention of master’s student Moaaz Rizk for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative).

Rizk was arrested on November 2 from a street in Alexandria after his mobile phone was searched; he was interrogated before the prosecution on the following day. Notably, the Criminal Court decided to release him; however, the prosecution decided to appeal the decision to prevent its implementation, so Rizk continues to be detained till now. 

Rizk faces charges of joining a terrorist group and possessing publications that promote its ideas.

27 February 2023 “After his release decision was dismissed; Borg El-Arab Prosecution renews Moaaz Rizk’s detention for 15 days” 

On February 27, Borg El-Arab Prosecution decided to renew the detention of student Moaaz Rizk, for 15 days pending investigations of case No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative).

Earlier, the Criminal Court decided to release Rizk on a 5,000 Egyptian Pounds bail, however; the prosecution decided to appeal the decision. On the following day, the prosecution accepted the appeal and upheld his detention renewal order. Master’s student Rizk faces charges of joining a terrorist group and possessing publications that promote its ideas.

5 January 2023 “The Prosecution’s appeal against Moaaz Rizk’s release accepted; his detention order for 15 days upheld” 

 Alexandria Criminal Court (the Council Chamber) decided to accept the appeal of Borg El-Arab Prosecution against the Court’s previous decision to release Moaaz Rizk on 5 thousand pounds bail. The court also upheld his detention renewal for 15 days in connection with case No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative). 

Police forces stopped Rizk on November 2 for security investigations; they also searched his mobile phone and to be later transferred him to Amerya 1 police station to be detained for 15 days against charges of joining a terrorist group and possessing publications that promote its ideas. 

4 January 2022 

Borg El-Arab Prosecution decided to appeal Alexandria’s Criminal Court’s decision to release Moaaz Rizk on five thousand pounds bail, pending investigations into case No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative). The Court set tomorrow’s hearing to look into the appeal. 

Rizk’s arrest came as a part of the security clampdown period that accompanied the calls for November 11 demonstrations. He faces charges of joining a terrorist group and possessing publications that promote its ideas.

4 January 2023 

On January 4, Alexandria Criminal Court (the Council Chamber) decided to release Master’s Student Moaaz Rizk on a bail of 5000 pounds, in connection with investigations of case No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative).

27 December 2022 

On December 27. Borg El-Arab Prosecution decided to renew the detention of master’s student Moaaz Rizk for 15 days, pending investigations into case No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative).

A police checkpoint stopped Rizk in Alexandria, where they searched his mobile phone as part of security crackdowns that accompanied the calls for the November 11 demonstrations. He was brought before the prosecution on the following day against charges of joining a terrorist group and possessing publications that promote its ideas.

12 December 2022 “After his arrest at police checkpoint, Borg El-Arab Prosecution renews Moaaz Rizk’s detention for 15 days” 

In the hearing of December 12, Borg El-Arab Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Masters student Moaaz Rizk for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative). 

Moaaz Rizk is a master’s student; he was arrested on November 2 after a security force stopped him at a police checkpoint in Alexandria, where they searched his mobile phone; he was interrogated before the prosecution on the following day, which in turn charged him with joining a terrorist group and possessing publications that promote its ideas. 

 

28 November 2022 “Borg El-Arab Prosecution renews the detention of masters student Moaaz Rizk for 15 days” 

On November 28, Borg El-Arab Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Masters student Moaaz Rizk for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative).

16 November 2022 

On November 16, Borg El-Arab Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Masters student Moaaz Rizk for 15 days, pending investigations of case No. 6777 of 2022 (Borg El-Arab Administrative).
