Last Friday, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release journalist parliamentary newspaper, Ahmed Abdel Majid, under the guarantee of his place of residence, pending investigations of case No. 2070 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).

Abdel Majid was arrested on November 9 from his house against a Facebook post he wrote a day before his arrest regarding forcing detained activist Alaa Abdel Fatah to end his hunger strike. Abdel Majid faced charges of joining and financing a terrorist group, participating in a criminal agreement aiming to commit a terrorist act, using social media to commit a terrorist act, and inciting to commit a terrorist act.

9 February 2023 “Because of Facebook posts; Supreme State Security Prosecution renews the detention of Hussein Shehata and journalist Ahmed Abdel Majid for 15 days” 

Today, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Hussein Shehata and Ahmed Fayez Abdel Majid for 15 days, in connection with case No. 2070 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).

Abdel Majid was arrested on November 9; because he published a post on his Facebook profile about activist Alaa Abdel Fatah being forced to end his hunger strike inside prison, while Shehata was arrested for publishing a post about price hikes and called to participate in November 11 demonstrations. both of them face charges of joining and financing a terrorist group, participating in a criminal agreement aiming to commit a terrorist act, and using social media to commit a terrorist act, and inciting to commit a terrorist act.

25 January 2023 “Supreme State Security Prosecution renews the detention of Hussein Shehata and journalist Ahmed Abdel Majid for 15 days because of Facebook posts” 

On January 25, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Hussein Shehata, and  Ahmed Fayez Abdel Majid for 15 days, in connection with case No. 2070 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).

The Supreme State Security Prosecution interrogated both Shehata and Abdel Majid on November 10, Abdel Majid was interrogated regarding  posting on Facebook about activist Alaa Abdel Fatah being forced to end his hunger strike, while Shehated posted about price hikes and calling for November 11 demonstrations.

Both Abdel Majid and Shehata were charged with joining and financing a terrorist group, participating in a criminal agreement aiming to commit a terrorist act, and using social media to commit a terrorist act, and inciting to commit a terrorist act.

18 December 2022

On December 18, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Hussein Shehata, and  Ahmed Fayez Abdel Majid for 15 days, in connection with case No. 2070 of 2022 (Supreme State Security).

The Supreme State Security Prosecution interrogated both Shehata and Abdel Majid on November 10, Abdel Majid was interrogated regarding  posting on Facebook about activist Alaa Abdel Fatah being forced to end his hunger strike, while Shehated posted about price hikes and calling for November 11 demonstrations.

4 December 2022 

On December 4, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Hussein Shehata, and  Ahmed Fayez Abdel Majid for 15 days, in connection with case No. 2070 of 2022 (Supreme State Security). 

Abdel Majid, the journalist at “Parliament newspaper,” was arrested on November 9 and had his first interrogation session before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on the following day; for posting on Facebook about activist Alaa Abdel Fatah being forced to end his hunger strike inside prison. The 57 years old Shehata, a worker at a shoe store in Alexandria, was arrested for posting about price hikes and calling for November 11 demonstrations. 

 

Both Abdel Majid and Shehata were charged with joining and financing a terrorist group, participating in a criminal agreement aiming to commit a terrorist act, and using social media to commit a terrorist act, and inciting to commit a terrorist act. 

20 November 2022 

On November 20, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Hussein Shehata, and journalist at “Parliament newspaper”, Ahmed Fayez Abdel Majid for 15 days, in connection with case No. 2070 of 2022 (Supreme State Security). 

Security forces arrested Abdel Majid on November 9; because he published a post on his Facebook profile about activist Alaa Abdel Fatah being forced to end his hunger strike inside prison, while Shehata was arrested for publishing a post about price hikes and called to participate in November 11 demonstrations.

Both Abdel Majid and Shehata face charges of joining and financing a terrorist group, participating in a criminal agreement aiming to commit a terrorist act, and using social media with the aim to commit a terrorist act and inciting to commit a terrorist act.
