The Military Court Has decided the renewal of detention for Ismail Al-Iskandarany, one month pending investigation in lawsuit number 18/2018 North Cairo Military Prosecution. The defendant is charged with spreading Armed Forces’ maps and Defense Secrets, joining a group that aims for toppling the Egyptian constitution and law, and the misuse of telecommunications.

The Supreme Court Prosecution had referred the lawsuit to the Military Prosecution, which started investigating the defendants without notifying the defense attorney. This happened after the legal period for the defendants pending investigation without a trial, had reached it’s limit. According to Act143 of the Egyptian Criminal Code, after the legal limit for the pending investigation the defendant should have been released, as explained furthermore in AFTE’s report.
