The First Circuit/Terrorism decided to release Waleed Shawky, Ayman Abdel Moati and Sayed Al-Banna, accused in case no. 621 of 2018, while replacing remand detention with one of the precautionary measures.

The First Circuit (Terrorism/Criminal) decided, today July 22, to renew the detention of Waleed Ahmed Shawky, Ayman Abdel Moa’ty Abdel-Rasoul and Sayed El-Banna, for 45 days pending investigations into case no. 621 of 2018.

The Second Circuit (Terrorism/Criminal) postponed today the renewal of detention session of defendants in case no. 621/2018: Waleed Ahmed Shawky, Ayman Abdel Moa’ty Abdel-Rasoul and Sayed El-Banna because the defendants were unable to attend the session.

State Security Prosecution approved on Sunday a request of the detained satirical vlogger Shady Abu Zeid’s lawyers for a temporary release order allowing Shady to attend the burial and the funeral of his father.
The satirist’s father passed away on Saturday after his medical condition deteriorated significantly since Shady’s detention, according to sources close to the vlogger’s family members.
Shady was detained from his house on May 6, 2018. Since then, he has been held in remand pending case 621/2018 as he is charged with spreading false news and joining an illegal group.
The defendant’s lawyer Mokhtar Monir had submitted a plea a week ago to allow Shady to visit his father in hospital but the prosecution did not get back to Monir about the request, local news outlets reported.
Lawyer Sabry Abu Alam, former April 6 Youth Movement member Waleed Shawky, and Al-Maraya publishing house’s marketing manager, Ayman Abdel Moa’ty, have were also detained pending the same lawsuit in October.
The case also includes prominent activist Shady El-Ghazaly Harb, April 6 members Sherif Al-Rouby and Amal Fathy, bloggers Mohamed Oxygen and Shady Abu Zeid.

Cairo Criminal Court has renewed the pretrial detention of satirical vlogger Shady Abu Zeid for 45 days pending case 621/2018.
The court also extended the precautionary measures of activist and former April 6 Youth Movement member Amal Fathy for 45 days pending the same case.
Fathy was handed a conditional release order on December 18, yet she is still in jail due to the delay in the process, said Ahmed Othman, lawyer at the Association for Freedom of Thought and Expression.
Abu Zeid and Fathy are charged with joining a terrorist group and publishing false news in this case.

Cairo Criminal Court ordered the release of activist and April 6 youth Movement member, Amal Fathy, with precautionary measures pending case 621/2018.
Fathy is charged with joining a terrorist group and publishing false news in this case.
The activist is also being prosecuted pending case 7991/2018 for complaining about sexual harassment in Egypt over a Facebook video published on her personal Facebook account.

Abdel Moa’ty was arrested from the publishing house headquarter in Downtown, Cairo, on October 18, and was interrogated on October 20. He is charged with joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and promoting terrorism.
It is worth mentioning that dentist and former April 6 Youth Movement member Waleed Ahmed Shawky has been recently held pending the same lawsuit. State Security Prosecutor has ordered the detention of dentist and former April 6 Youth Movement member Waleed Ahmed Shawky for 15 days pending case 621/2018.
The dentist was arrested from his clinic in Sayeda Zainab neighborhood, Cairo, on October 14. Then, he was subject to enforced disappearance for six days. On October 20, he was found at State Security Prosecution at New Cairo where he was interrogated pending case 621/2018.
Shawky was asked about his activities with April 6 Youth Movement which he left more than a year ago, said Ahmed Othman, lawyer at the Association of Freedom of Thought and Expression. He is charged with joining a terrorist group, spreading rumors, and misusing social media.
This case includes other activists who are facing similar charges such as Shady El-Ghazaly Harb, April 6 members Amal Fathy and Sherif Al-Rouby, bloggers Mohamed Oxygen and Shady Abu Zeid, along with lawyers Ahmed Sabry Abu Alam and Sayed El-Banna.

State Security Prosecutor extended the preventative detention of activist and April 6 youth Movement member, Amal Fathy, for 15 days pending case 621/2018. She is facing the charges of joining a terrorist group and publishing false news in this case.
It is worth noting that the other April 6 member Sherif Al-Rouby and blogger Mohamed Ibrahim, known as Mohamed Oxygen, are held pending the same case and facing similar charges.

Chamber 15 of Giza Criminal Court renewed the detention of April 6 group member Sherif Al-Rouby along with blogger and activist Mohamed Ibrahim, known as Mohamed Oxygen, for 45 days pending investigations in case 621/2018. The two defendants are accused of joining a terrorist group and publishing false news. It is worth noting that the other April 6 group member Amal Fathy is held pending the same case and facing similar charges.

State Security Prosecution has decided the detention of 6th of April group member, Sherief Al-Rouby, and the journalist and blogger Mohamed Ibrahiem, known as Mohamed Oxygen, 15 days pending investigation. The defendants are charged with joining a terrorist group and spreading false news in lawsuit number 621/2018.
The two defendants we forcefully disappeared before appearing in front of the court, as Sherief AL-Rouby has been disappeared for 10 days, while Oxygen has been disappeared for a week.
