After almost four years in pretrial detention; lawyer Mohamed Ramadan released under guarantee of his residence

Today, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release lawyer Mohamed Ramadan, under guarantee of his place of residence, in connection with Case No. 910 of 2021 (Supreme State Security).

In December 2018, Ramadan was arrested after posting a photo of himself announcing his solidarity with the yellow vest protests in France back then, he was listed in three different cases with the same charges of joining a terrorist group, his pretrial detention continued even after orders to release him was issued.

It should be noted that Ramadan suffers from several health problems, that deteriorated as a result of being in pretrial detention and not receiving proper medical attention, as he suffered from coronary insufficiency, high blood pressure, and persistent pain in the knees.

 

14 June 2022

On Tuesday, June 14, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of lawyer Mohamed Ramdan for 45 days in connection with Case No. 910 of 2021 (Supreme State Security). The third case in which Ramadan has been involved.

On December 10, 2018, Security forces arrested Ramadan after he posted a photo of himself on Facebook featuring him wearing a yellow vest in solidarity with the yellow vest protests in France back then, after his arrest; he was rotated in three different cases with similar charges of joining a terrorist group.

16 May 2022 Criminal Court renews lawyer Mohamed Ramadan’s detention for 45 days pending his third case

On Monday, May 16, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of lawyer Mohamed Ramdan for 45 days in connection with Case No. 910 of 2021 (Supreme State Security). The third case in which Ramadan has been involved.

On December 10, 2018, Security forces arrested Ramadan after he posted a photo of himself on Facebook featuring him wearing a yellow vest in solidarity with the yellow vest protests in France back then, after his arrest; he was rotated in three different cases with similar charges of joining a terrorist group.

28 March 2022 “Criminal Court renews lawyer Mohamed Ramadan’s detention for 45 days pending his third case”

On Monday, 28 March, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of lawyer Mohamed Ramdan for 45 days, in connection with his third case in which he’s charged with joining a terrorist group, Case No. 910 of 2021 (Supreme State Security).

On December 10, 2018, Security forces arrested Ramadan after he posted a photo of himself on Facebook featuring him wearing a yellow vest, in solidarity with the yellow vest protests in France back then, he was first listed in Case No. 16576 of 2018 (Montzah administrative), and after a decision to release him was issued, he was rotated in connection with Case No. 467 of 2020 (Supreme State Security Prosecution), and in June he has been rotated for the third time in connection with the current case.

13 March 2022 “Doctor Hossam Elden Shaaban Released”

On Sunday, March 13, The Criminal Court (The Fifth Circuit Criminal Terrorism) decided to release Dr. Hossam Elden Shaaban in connection with Case No. 910 of 2021 (Supreme State Security).

Security forces arrested Shaaban on May 15 of last year, from Al-Arish Hospital while he was within the Health Ministry convoy sent to the Gaza Strip. He appeared before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on the first of June of the same year, which charged him with joining a terrorist group, spreading false news and using a social media account to commit a crime.

6 March 2022

On Sunday, March 6, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew lawyer’s Mohamed Ramadan detention for 45 days in connection with Case No. 910 of 2021 Supreme State Security. The third case in which Ramadan is convicted.

Security forces arrested Ramadan – who suffers from several health problems, most notably coronary insufficiency, high blood pressure, and persistent pain in the knees – on December 10, 2018, after he posted a photo wearing a yellow vest on his Facebook profile in solidarity with the Yellow vests protests in France back then. Ramadan currently faces charges of joining a terrorist group.

13 December 2021

The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of lawyer Mohamed Ramdan for 45 days, in connection with his third Case No. 910 of 2021 (Supreme State Security), on Monday, December 13.

On December 10, 2018, Security forces arrested Ramadan in Alexandria after he posted a photo of himself on Facebook featuring him wearing a yellow vest, in solidarity with the yellow vest protests in France back then. The Prosecution decided to detain him in connection with Case No. 16576 of 2018 (Montzah administrative), and after a decision to release him was issued, he was rotated in connection with Case No. 467 of 2020 (Supreme State Security Prosecution), and in June he has been rotated in connection with the current case.

22 November 2021

The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of lawyer Mohamed Ramdan for 45 days, in connection with his third Case No. 910 of 2021 (Supreme State Security), on Monday, November 22.

The detention order session of Ramadan was due to be held on November 1; The court decided to adjourn the session four times as it was not possible to transfer him from his prison cell to the court.

Ramadan, who has been in pretrial detention for nearly three years, suffers from several health problems, most notably coronary insufficiency, high blood pressure, and persistent pain in the knees, and he’s facing charges of joining a terrorist group in connection with the current case.

14 November 2021

Yesterday, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to adjourn the detention order hearing of Lawyer Mohamed Ramadan, for the fourth time in two weeks, in connection with his third Case No. 910 of 2021 Supreme State Security, to next Monday’s November 22 session, as it was not possible to transfer him from his prison cell to the court.

On December 10, 2018, Security forces arrested Ramadan in Alexandria after he posted a photo of himself on Facebook featuring him wearing a yellow vest. The Prosecution investigated him in connection with Case No. 16576 of 2018 Montzah administrative. After a decision to release him was issued, he was rotated for the first time pending Case No. 467 of 2020 Supreme State Security Prosecution. Last June, he was rotated for the second time in connection with the current case with charges of joining a terrorist group.

10 November 2021 

Yesterday, For the third time in two weeks, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to adjourn the detention order hearing of Lawyer Mohamed Ramadan to next Sunday’s November 14 session in connection with his third Case No. 910 of 2021 Supreme State Security. as it was not possible to transfer him from his prison cell to the court.

On December 10, 2018, Security forces arrested Ramadan in Alexandria, after he posted a photo of himself on Facebook featuring him wearing a yellow vest, The Prosecution investigated him in connection with Case No. 16576 of 2018 Montzah administrative, and after a decision to release him was issued, he was rotated for the first time pending Case No. 467 of 2020 Supreme State Security Prosecution, and in last June he has been rotated for the second time in connection with the current case with charges of joining a terrorist group.

7 November 2021

For the second time, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided on Sunday’s November 2 session, to adjourn the detention order hearing of Lawyer Mohamed Ramadan to next Wednesday’s November 10 session, pending his third Case No. 910 of 2021 Supreme State Security. as it was not possible to transfer him from his prison cell to the court.

Ramadan was arrested on 10 December 2018, from his house in Alexandria after he posted a photo of himself on Facebook featuring him wearing a yellow vest in solidarity with the “Yellow Vest” protests in France at the time.

Since then the prosecution decided to detain him pending Case No. 16576 of 2018 Montzah administrative, and after a decision to release him was issued, he was rotated pending Case No. 467 of 2020 Supreme State Security Prosecution, and on June he has been rotated again pending the current case with charges of joining a terrorist group.

2 November 2021 

Yesterday, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) set next Sunday’s November 7 session to consider the detention order hearing of Lawyer Mohamed Ramadan, pending his third Case No. 910 of 2021 Supreme State Security.

The session was supposed to take place on Monday, November 1, and the adjournment decision came due to the inability to transfer him from his prison cell.

Security forces arrested Ramadan on December 10, 2018, after he posted a photo wearing a yellow vest on his Facebook profile.

The Public Prosecution decided to detain him against charges of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news, pending Case No. 16576 of 2018 Montzah administrative, and after a decision to release him was issued, he was rotated pending Case No. 467 of 2020 Supreme State Security Prosecution, and on June he has been rotated again pending the current case with charges of joining a terrorist group.

 

1 November 2021

Today, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to indefinitely adjourn the detention order hearing of Lawyer Mohamed Ramadan due to the inability to transfer him from his prison cell.

This decision came in connection with Ramadan’s third case, Case No. 910 of 2021 Supreme State Security, with charges of joining a terrorist group.

Security forces arrested Ramadan – who suffers from several health problems, most notably coronary insufficiency, high blood pressure, and persistent pain in the knees – on December 10, 2018, after he posted a photo wearing a yellow vest on his Facebook profile in solidarity with the Yellow vests protests in France back then.

8 May 2021

The Association for Freedom of Thought and Expression (AFTE), submitted a request in cooperation with The defense committee of human rights lawyer “Muhammad Ramadan”, today, 8 May 2021, to the supreme state security prosecution, demanding his hospitalization, taking the necessary medical procedures regarding his health condition, and releasing him.

“Ramadan” was arrested in September 2018, and was charged with another case remained in pretrial detention pending case No. 467 of 2020, known in the media as “the case of the yellow jackets”
