Supreme State Security Prosecution releases journalist Amer Abdel-Moneim

On April 30, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release journalist Amer Abdel-Moneim, in connection with Case No. 1017 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Security forces arrested Abdel-Moneim -57 years- from his house on December 18, 2020, two days later; he appeared before the Supreme State Security Prosecution which charged him with joining a terrorist group spreading false news, and using a social media website to commit a crime.

On April 11 hearing, The Criminal Court (Fifth Terrorism Circuit) decided to renew the detention of journalist Amer Abdel-Moneim for 45 days in connection with lawsuit No. 1017 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Abdel-Moneim suffers from several health conditions; the most notable is diabetes. He also underwent two eye surgeries less than two months before his arrest incident.

After his arrest from his house on December 18, 2020, he appeared before the Supreme State Security Prosecution pending the current lawsuit. He faces charges of joining a terrorist group spreading false news, and using a social media website to commit a crime.

8 March 2022 “Criminal Court renews Journalist Amer Abdel-Moneim’s detention for 45 days, despite the deterioration of his health conditions”

On Tuesday, March 8, The Criminal Court (The 3rd Terrorism Circuit) decided to renew the detention of journalist Amer Abdel-Moneim for 45 days, in connection with Case No. 1017 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

On Sunday, December 12, The Criminal Court (The Fifth Circuit Criminal/ Terrorism) decided to renew the detention of Amer Abdel-Moneim for 45 days, in connection with Case No. 1017 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Security forces arrested Abdel-Moneim -who suffers from several health conditions; the most notable is diabetes. He also underwent two eye surgeries less than two months before his arrest- from his house in Al-Haram district; two days later, he was presented before the Supreme State Security Prosecution.

Abdel-Moneim faces charges of joining a terrorist group spreading false news and using a social media website to commit a crime.

2 November 2021 

Tuesday, November 2, The Criminal Court (The Second Circuit Terrorism) decided to renew the detention of journalist Amer Abdel-Moneim for 45 days, pending Case No. 1017 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

On December 18, 2020, a police force arrested Abdel-Moneim from his house in Al-Haram district; two days later, the 57-year-old was presented before the State Security Prosecution on charges of joining a terrorist group spreading false news, and using a social media website to commit a crime.

Abdel-Moneim suffers from several health conditions; the most notable is diabetes. He also underwent two eye surgeries less than two months before his arrest.

4 October 2021 

Monday, October 4, The Criminal Court (The Second Circuit Criminal Terrorism) considered the detention order of journalist “Amer Abdel-Moneim” and ordered to extend it for 45 days. This came pending Case No. 1017 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

On December 18, 2020, Security forces arrested “Abdel-Moneim” from his house in Al-Haram district and appeared before state security prosecution on December 20 to be investigated in connection with the current case.

And he was charged with several accusations including joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and using a social media website to commit a crime.

“Abdel-Moneim” suffers from several health conditions, most notable of which is diabetes. He also underwent two eye surgeries less than two months before his arrest. AFTE released a statement to call on the Public Prosecutor to release him and urge the Journalists Syndicate to intervene immediately to receive healthcare.

14 June 2021

The Third Circuit (Criminal / Terrorism), had decided at Monday’s session June 14, 2021, to renew the detention of the journalist at “El-Shaab” newspaper “Amer Abdel-Moneim Ahmed Ali” for 45 days pending Case No. 1017 of 2020.

With charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and using a social media website to commit a crime.

It is mentioned that he was arrested from his house last December 18, and appeared before state security prosecution on December 20, for investigations.

AFTE issued a statement to call on the Public Prosecutor to release him and urge the Journalists Syndicate to intervene immediately to receive healthcare.

6 June 2021

The Third Circuit (Criminal / Terrorism), had decided at Sunday’s session June 6, 2021, to renew the detention of journalist at “El-Shaab” newspaper “Amer Abdel-Moneim Ahmed Ali” for 45 days pending case No. 1017 of 2020.

With charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and using a social media website to commit a crime.

It is mentioned that he was arrested from his house on last December 18, and appeared before state security prosecution on December 20, to be investigates

AFTE issued a statement to call on the Public Prosecutor to release him and to urge the Journalists Syndicate to intervene immediately to enable him to receive healthcare.
