After four years in pretrial detention, Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim released under guarantee of his place of residence

The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release Mohamed Mahmoud Abdel Halim under the guarantee of his place of residence in connection with lawsuit No. 855 of 2020 (State Security).

Security forces arrested Abdel Halim in November 2019 in connection with his first lawsuit against him, for which he spent a year and a half in pretrial detention till the Criminal Court decided to release him. However, Abdel Halim was subjected to rotation in a second lawsuit, facing the same previous accusations of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.


Criminal Court renews Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim’s detention for 45 days pending his second case

13 August 2023 

On August 13, the Criminal Court (Second Circuit) decided to renew the detention of Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim for 45 days, pending his second lawsuit No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).

Security forces arrested Abdel Halim on November 2019 pending his first lawsuit, and after a year and a half in pretrial detention, the Criminal Court decided to release him, but the decision was not executed, and he was listed in the current case with the exact previous accusations of the first lawsuit, which are joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.

23 May 2023 

On May 23, the Criminal Court (First Circuit) decided to renew Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim’s detention for 45 days pending investigations of lawsuit No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).

It’s noteworthy that it’s the second time Abdel Halim has been convicted in a lawsuit; he spent a year in pretrial detention in 2019 pending another lawsuit and was reaccused of the same previous accusation, which included joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.

8 February 2023 “Criminal Court renews Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim’s detention for 45 days” 

On February 8, the Criminal Court (the Council Chamber) decided to renew Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim’s detention for 45 days, pending his second case No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).

 Abdel Halim spent a year in pretrial detention pending another case; he was listed in the current case after his release against the exact charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.

28 December 2022 “Criminal Court renews Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim’s detention for 45 days pending his second case” 

On December 28, the Criminal Court (the Council Chamber) held at Badr’s Court decided to renew Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim’s detention for 45 days pending case No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).

Abdel Halim was arrested in November 2019 in connection with case No. 1331 of 2019 (Supreme State Security); a year later, the Criminal Court decided to replace his pretrial detention with one of the precautionary measures; however, Abdel Halim was rotated into the current case against charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.

15 November 2022 

On November 15, the Criminal Court (the Council Chamber) of Badr’s Court decided to renew the pretrial detention of Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim for 45 days pending case No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security Prosecution). The Second case where Abdel Halim is convicted since his arrest in 2019.

28 August 2022 “Criminal Court renews Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim’s detention for 45 days pending his second case” 

On August 28, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim for 45 days in connection with his second Case No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Security forces arrested Abdel Halim in November 2019, pending case No. 1331 of 2019 (Supreme State Security); after a period of pretrial detention, the Criminal Court released him; however, he was listed once more in the current case.

Abdel Halim faces charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.

21 August 2022 “Criminal Court adjourns Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim’s detention hearing to August 29” 

On August 21, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to adjourn to August 29 the hearing of the detention order of Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim, pending investigations into Case No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security). The second case in which Abdel Halim is convicted.

29 June 2022 “Criminal Court renews Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim’s detention for 45 days pending his second case” 

On June 29, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim for 45 days in connection with his second Case No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

In November 2019, Abdel Halim was arrested pending the first case No. 1331 of 2019 (Supreme State Security); later, a decision to release him was issued, but it didn’t pass; instead, he was rotated pending the current case.

Abdel Halim faces charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.

30 May 2022 Criminal Court renews Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim’s detention for 45 days pending his second case

On Monday, May 30, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim for 45 days in connection with his second Case No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Abdel Halim was arrested in November 2019 in connection with Case No. 1331 of 2019 (Supreme State Security); on November 3, 2020, the Criminal Court decided to replace his pretrial detention with one of the precautionary measures, but the decision was not executed. On Tuesday, March 8, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim for 45 days in connection with his second Case No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Abdel Halim was arrested on November 2019 in connection with Case No. 1331 of 2019 (Supreme State Security), on November 3, 2020, the Criminal Court decided to replace his pretrial detention with one of the precautionary measures, but the decision was not executed, and he was listed in the current case with the exact previous charges of the first case which are joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.

12 December 2021 

On Sunday, December 12, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim for 45 days in connection with Case No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

In the current case, Abdel Halim is currently facing charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media, which are the exact charges he faced in the first Case No. 1331 of 2019 (Supreme State Security) before the Criminal Court issued a decision to release him and to get rotated in connection with the current case.

2 November 2021 

Tuesday, November 2, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim for 45 days pending Case No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Notably, Abdel Halim was accused in Case No. 1331 of 2019 (Supreme State Security), till a decision was issued to release him with precautionary measures, but the decision was not executed, and he was listed in the current case with the exact previous charges, which are joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media.

5 October 2021 

Tuesday, October 5, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) considered the detention order of “Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim” and ordered to extend it for 45 days. This came pending Case No. 855 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Notably, “Abdel Halim” was accused in Case No. 1331 of 2019 (Supreme State Security), with charges of joining a terrorist group, spreading false news, and misusing social media. A decision was issued to release him with precautionary measures, but the decision was not implemented, and he was listed in the current case with the same previous charges.

11 July 2021

The Council Chamber of the Criminal Court considered the detention order of both “Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim” and “Zeyad Abou El-Fadl”, and ordered to renew their detention for 45 extra days, this came pending Case No. 855 of 2020 Supreme State Security, The mentioned court considered the order to renew the defendants’ detention on Sunday, July 11, 2021, in the presence of AFTE’s lawyer.

The Criminal Court had previously decided to release “Zeyad Abou El-Fadl” with precautionary measures, who had been detained pending Case No. 1739 of 2018, also a release order for “Mohamed Mamdouh Abdel Halim” with precautionary measures was issued, pending Case No. 1331 of 2019, however, the orders didn’t pass, and they were presented before the Supreme State Security Prosecution in Case No. 855 of 2020 Supreme State Security.

The investigations charged them with joining a terrorist group, and spreading false news, and using a social media account with the aim of spreading the false news.
