The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release the journalist at Aljazeera Mubasher, Rabea Elsheikh, pending investigations of case No. 1365 of 2018 (State Security) after more than 2 years in detention.

Elsheikh was arrested in August 2021 while heading back to Egypt from Doha, the Supreme State Security Prosecution interrogated him on the same day in the current case. Alsheikh faces accusations of joining a terrorist group, financing the activities of that group, and spreading false news.

29 March 2023: Criminal Court renews the detention of Aljazeera Mubasher’s journalist, Rabea Elsheikh, for 45 days

On March 29, the Criminal Court (Third Circuit) decided to renew the detention of the journalist at Aljazeera Mubasher, Rabea Elsheikh for 45 days, pending investigations of case No. 1365 of 2018 (State Security).

Elsheikh was arrested in August 2021 while heading back to Egypt from Doha, the Supreme State Security Prosecution interrogated him on the same day in the current case. Alsheikh faces accusations of joining a terrorist group, financing the activities of that group, and spreading false news.

29 August 2022 “Criminal Court renews journalist Rabea Elsheikh’s detention for 45 days” 

On August 29, The Criminal Court (Third Criminal Terrorism Circuit ) decided to renew the detention of journalist Rabea Elsheikh for 45 days, in connection with case No. 1365 of 2018 State Security.

Security forces arrested the Al-Jazeera’s journalist Cairo International Airport on 1 August 2021 upon his arrival from Qatar. The Supreme State Security Prosecution interrogated him in the same day and charged him with joining a terrorist group, financing the activities of that group, and spreading false news.

26 April 2022 “Criminal Court renews journalist Rabea Elsheikh’s detention for 45 days” 

On Tuesday, April 26, The Criminal Court (The Third Circuit Criminal Terrorism) decided to renew the detention of journalist Rabea Elsheikh for 45 days, in connection with lawsuit No. 1365 of 2018 State Security.

Elsheikh worked as a journalist at Al-Jazeera Channel before he was arrested at Cairo Airport while returning from Qatar, and he faces charges of joining a terrorist group, financing the activities of that group, and spreading false news.

13 March 2022 

On Sunday, March 13, The Criminal Court (The Fifth Circuit Criminal Terrorism) decided to renew the detention of journalist Rabea Elsheikh for 45 days, in connection with Case No. 1365 of 2018 State Security.

The Supreme State Security Prosecution accused El-Sheikh of joining a terrorist group, financing the activities of that group, and spreading false news, after his arrest on the 1st of August 2021 from Cairo Airport while returning from Qatar.
