Criminal Court renews student Estshhad Kamal Rezk’s detention for 45 days despite exceeding the maximum period of pretrial detention

25 February 2024 

The Criminal Court in Badr city (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of Estshhad Kamal Rezk, for 45 days pending investigations of lawsuit No. 680 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Security forces arrested Estshhad in November 2020, which means that she has exceeded two years in pretrial detention, which is the maximum period according to Egyptian law. Estshhad faces accusations of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.

9 May 2023 

On May 9, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of Estshhad Kamal Rezk, for 45 days pending investigations of lawsuit No. 680 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Security forces arrested Estshhad in November 2020, which means that she has exceeded two years in pretrial detention, which is the maximum period according to Egyptian law. Estshhad faces accusations of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.

22 February 2023 

On the hearing of Wednsday, February 22, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) held at Badr’s Court decided to renew the detention of Estshhad Kamal Rezk, for 45 days pending investigations of Case No. 680 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Police forces arrested the student at Al-Azhar University, Estshhad, on November 9, 2020, she was interrofated before the prosecution for the first time on November 19 of the same year. She was accused of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.

13 December 2022

On December 13, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of the student at Al-Azhar University, Estshhad Kamal Rezk, for 45 days in connection with Case No. 680 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Security forces arrested Estshhad in November 2020. She faces charges of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.

1 August 2022

On August 1, The Criminal Court (The Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of Student at Al-Azhar University, Estshhad Kamal Rezk, for 45 days in connection with Case No. 680 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).

Estshhad was arrested on November 2020, she appeared before the Supreme State Security Prosecution after 10 days of illegal detention, which in turn charged her with joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.
