Gamal Mohamed Salama released , under the guarantee of his place of residence

On September 20, The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to release Gamal Mohamed Salama, under the guarantee of his place of residence in connection with Case No. 440 of 2022. Salama in addition to 27 other detainees were released as part of the presidential pardon initiative.

Salama was arrested on 26 April after he posted a video on TikTok parodying a sarcastic song about price hikes. He faced charges of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news. 

2 August 2022 “For posting a Tik Tok video; the Supreme State Security Prosecution renews Gamal Mohamed Salama’s detention for 15 days” 

On the 2nd of August, The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Gamal Mohamed Salama for 15 days pending investigations in connection with Case No. 440 of 2022.

The Public Prosecution summoned the 46 years old Salama after he posted a video on TikTok parodying a sarcastic song about price hikes. The security forces also searched his Facebook and TikTok accounts; Salama admitted that he posted the video for entertainment purposes and that he has no interest in any political events.

After interrogations, the prosecution charges Salama with joining a terrorist group and spread false news. 

23 May 2022 “Supreme State Security Prosecution renews Gamal Mohamed Salama’s detention for 15 days; for posting a Tik Tok video” 

On Monday, May 23, The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Gamal Mohamed Salama for 15 days pending investigations in connection with Case No. 440 of 2022.

Salama was arrested on 26 April after he posted a video on TikTok parodying a sarcastic song about price hikes. The prosecution summoned him and questioned him about the video after checking his Facebook and TikTok accounts; in the investigations, Salama admitted that he posted the video for entertainment purposes and that he has no interest in any political events.

The prosecution charges Salama with joining a terrorist group and spreading false news against the backdrop of posting the Tiktok video.

17 May 2022 “Supreme State Security Prosecution detains Gamal Mohamed Salama for 15 days for posting a Tik Tok video”

Yesterday, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to detain Gamal Mohamed Salama for 15 days pending investigations in connection with Case No. 440 of 2022.

Salama -43 years old- was arrested on April 26, against the backdrop of posing a Tik Tok parody video of a sarcastic song about the high cost of living. Later the Prosecution summoned him to be investigated regarding the video and searching his Facebook and Tiktok accounts; in the investigations, Salama admitted that he posted the video for entertainment purposes and that he has no interest in the political events.

Salama faces charges of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.
