Supreme State Security Prosecution

The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Muhammad Mahmoud Sabry Ismail for 15 days pending investigations in Case No. 95 of 2023 Supreme State Security Prosecution.

Ismail was arrested at the airport while returning to Egypt to visit his family from the UAE, where he works.

Ismail was presented to the Supreme State Security Prosecution on May 27, 2024, for investigation and was charged with joining a terrorist group while knowing its purposes, publishing and broadcasting false news and statements that would harm security and public order, and using an account on social media for the purpose of publishing and broadcasting false news and statements.

Supreme State Security Prosecution

The State Security Prosecution decided to renew Zyad Muhammad Ahmed Al-Basiouny’s detention for 15 days pending investigations in Case No. 1941 of 2024 State Security on charges of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.

He was arrested due to his participation in writing a statement on behalf of the “Students for Palestine” group demanding facilitating the Joining of Palestinian students in Egypt to study and exempting them from expenses.

 

On April 30, Al-Basyouny attended a meeting with other students to discuss the situation in Palestine. They also established a student group that supported Palestine in all Egyptian universities, and they chose the name “Students for Palestine” for their group.

Al-Basyouny was arrested from his home at dawn on May 9, disappeared in an unknown location, and was interrogated regarding his family’s political activity, as well as his student activities.

The group also issued a statement in which they called on the Ministry of Higher Education to ban products that support the Israeli occupation.

Al-Basyouny is a 20-year-old student at the Acting Institute.

 

Administrative Court

The Administrative Court in Qalyubia postponed hearing the appeal of AFTE at the State Council court in Benha City on behalf of Nada Osama Abdel-Mughni against the Faculty of Arts at Benha University due to the negative decision to refrain from appointing her as a teaching assistant at the college, despite her eligibility, until the 26 August session. 

 

The court allowed the correction of the form of lawsuit No. 7026 of the 11th judicial year by adding a request to appeal the five-year plan for appointing teaching assistants at the Faculty of Arts, Benha University (Media Department).

State Security Prosecution

The State Security Prosecution decided to release Islam Ramadan Kamel and Muhammad Mustafa Abdel Qader nearly two years after they were arrested and detained pending investigations in Case No. 1893 of 2022 (Supreme State Security Investigation).

 

Police forces arrested both in November 2022 because they shared their political opinions on social media.
