Supreme State Security Prosecution
The Supreme State Security Prosecution has renewed the detention of one person for 15 days:
- Ihab Helmy Amin Hussein pending investigations in Case No. 4092 of 2024 (Supreme State Security).
Security forces arrested the defendant from his home on August 28, 2024, and he was held in an undisclosed location, unknown to his family and lawyers, until he was presented before the prosecution on September 3, 2024. The prosecution charged him with Joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its objectives, Publishing and disseminating false news and information that would harm public security and order, and using a social media account to publish and disseminate false news and information that would harm public security and order.
During the investigation, the prosecution presented him with a confiscated mobile phone, which he admitted belonged to him.
The Administrative Court
The Administrative Court in Qalyubia decided to postpone the hearing of the appeal in the case filed by AFTE before the State Council in Banha, on behalf of Nada Osama Abdel Moghny, against the Faculty of Arts at Banha University. The appeal challenges the negative decision to refuse her appointment as a teaching assistant in the faculty, despite her being the top student in her department in terms of academic grades. The hearing was postponed to January 27th of next year, allowing the plaintiff to obtain an official copy of Appeal No. 6934 of Judicial Year 3 to prove her right to the teaching assistant position.
The court also authorized the correction of the case format, numbered 7026/11, to include a request to appeal the five-year plan for appointing teaching assistants at the Faculty of Arts, Benha University, (Department of Media).

Criminal Court
The Cairo Criminal Court renewed the detention of 2 defendants for 45 days. They are:
1- Mohamed Al-Qassas, vice president of the Strong Egypt Political Party, pending his third lawsuit, No. 786 of 2020 (Supreme State Security).
Al-Qassas was arrested in February 2017, coinciding with an extensive arrest campaign launched by the security forces against members and leaders of the Strong Egypt Political Party. He was involved as a defendant in his first lawsuit, No. 977 of 2017, known in the media as the “Mekamleen 2 lawsuit.” after nearly 22 months in pretrial detention, the prosecution ordered his release. However, a few days later, the prosecution interrogated and listed him in a second lawsuit, No. 1781 of 2019, over the same accusations he previously faced.
On August 5, 2020, the Criminal Court ordered Al-Qassas to be released with precautionary measures. Still, the decision was not implemented, and for the third time, Al-Qassas was included in lawsuit No. 786 of 2020, and one more time, over the same accusations. In 2021, the Supreme State Security Prosecution listed Al-Qassas in his fourth lawsuit, No. 440 of 2018. It later referred this lawsuit to the Emergency State Security Court, which sentenced Al-Qassas to 10 years in heavy prison and police observation for five years after the sentence ended.
Al-Qassas is detained over accusations of being a part of a terrorist group with knowledge of this group’s aims and spreading and publishing false news and information.
2- The architect Hassan Abdel Hamid Hassan Ahmed, pending investigations in Case No. 488 of the 2019 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).
Abdel Hamid was arrested in November 2019, and presented to the prosecution in January 2020 on charges of joining a terrorist group, and publishing and spreading false news and statements.
It is worth mentioning that Abdel Hamid was unlawfully detained in an unknown place from the time of his arrest until he was presented to the prosecution in violation of the constitution and the law. He was also tortured during his enforced disappearance.
Abdel Hamid is 55 years old, and suffers from several chronic diseases. He was also injured in a car accident in 1997, which caused cracks and fractures, and the installation of plates and screws in various places in his body.
During his detention, Abdel Hamid was hospitalized more than once. His father passed away in July 2020, and his mother died in April 2023.

Criminal Court
The Cairo Criminal Court renewed the detention of 4 defendants for 45 days. They are:
1- Ali Mohmed Ali Abo ElMajd, a student in the fourth year of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Azhar University, in Case No. 2468 of 2023 (Supreme State Security).
Security forces arrested Abo ElMajd on October 21 of the last year, from his home in the Bulaq Al Dakrur area, due to his participation in the demonstrations in support of Palestine. He remained detained in an unknown place to his family and lawyer until his presentation to the Supreme State Security Prosecution on the 28th of the same month, which proceeded with investigations with him and decided to detain him in pretrial detention for 15 days, pending investigations.
The prosecution charged Abo ElMajd with joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its purposes and participating in a gathering intended to harm public safety and order, changing the government system through force, and forcing a public employee to refrain from performing one of his duties through intimidation and violence. To accomplish a terrorist purpose, the defendant destroyed public and private property, both immovable and movable.
2- Ahmed Husine Ahmed Abostit, pending lawsuit No. 2468 of 2023 (Supreme State Security). Security forces arrested him on October 24, 2023, in Abdel Moneim Riad Square due to his participation in the demonstrations in support of Palestine on October 20.
It is worthy to note that the prosecution accused him of joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its purposes and participating in a gathering intended to harm public safety and order, changing the government system through force, and forcing a public employee to refrain from performing one of his duties through intimidation and violence. To accomplish a terrorist purpose, the defendant destroyed public and private property, both immovable and movable.
3- Journalist Karim Ebrahim, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 569 of 2020 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).
Security forces arrested the journalist at Al-Bawaba newspaper and a member of the Journalists Syndicate in April 2020; he was arrested in connection with clashes between the police forces and armed members, which took place in the Alamiria district, his residence place.
He was also unlawfully detained for a month before being brought before the investigation authorities, which accused him of joining a terrorist group.
4- Moataz Bellah Hassab Elnaby, pending the investigation of lawsuit No. 965 of 2021 (Supreme State Security), completing three years in pretrial detention.
Security forces arrested Hasab Elnaby on July 12, 2021, against the grounds of several posts published on a Facebook account attributed to him; despite the fact that Hasab Elnaby denied his ownership of the account.
