The Cairo Criminal Court (Second Criminal Circuit, Badr) decided to postpone the continuation of the trial of Mohamed Mohamed Hamed Mohamed, 61, a blacksmith, who is in pretrial detention in Case No. 14739 of 2024, Fifth Settlement Felonies, registered under No. 3344 of 2024, New Cairo Misdemeanors, to 23 June, due to his inability to attend the court session.

Mohamed Hamed was arrested on 16 August 2021 at his home in Al-Salam district and remained held in an undisclosed location without legal justification, away from his family and lawyer, until he was brought before the State Security Prosecution on 31 August 2021. He denied all charges, and the prosecution initially ordered his detention for 15 days pending investigations. He has since remained in prolonged pretrial detention until his trial.

14 January 2026 : Trial of Mohamed Hamed Adjourned to March 11 to Hear Prosecution Arguments

The Cairo Criminal Court (Second Criminal Circuit) has postponed the next session of the trial of Mohamed Mohamed Hamed Mohamed, 61, a blacksmith, who is detained in Case No. 965 of 2021 (State Security High Court), to March 11, 2026, for the prosecution’s arguments.

Mohamed Hamed was arrested on August 16, 2021, at his home in El-Salam district and remained in undisclosed detention, unknown to his family and lawyer, until he was presented to the State Security Prosecution on August 31, 2021. The prosecution opened investigations and charged him with joining a terrorist group while being aware of its objectives, spreading false news, statements, and rumors likely to disturb public order and harm public interest, and using an online account to commit these acts. He denied all charges, and the prosecution ordered his detention for 15 days during the investigations. He remained in prolonged pretrial detention until his referral for trial.

On December 29, 2024, the State Security Prosecution referred Mohamed Hamed and others to criminal trial before the Criminal Court, on charges of joining a terrorist group while being aware of its objectives. The first session was initially set for June 21, 2025, but was postponed to August 24, 2025, due to the absence of some detained defendants. During the August 24 session, the prosecution presented the referral order, which the defendants denied, and the defense requested a postponement to examine and question prosecution witnesses. The court subsequently postponed the session to October 26, 2025, for witness examination.

During the session on October 26, 2025, prosecution witnesses appeared and were questioned by both the court and the defense. The next session was originally scheduled for January 14, 2026, for prosecution arguments, but it has now been postponed to March 11, 2026.
