Cairo Criminal Court rejected the Association for Freedom of Thought and Expression’s (AFTE) appeal on renewing the detention of photojournalist Mohamed El-Husseini for 45 days pending case 915/2017.
He and another photojournalist were arrested from El-Fagalah area on September 12, 2017 while filming a report about stationary prices. He was illegally detained for two weeks until he was interrogated and charged with joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.
El-Husseini has been subject to solitary confinement for over a year now with no access to necessary medication he need. Additionally, his family members are not allowed to visit him.
AFTE had provided a filming permission from El Husseini employer along with work he had previously done for Al-Assema and Sada El-Balad TV channels.

South Cairo Criminal Court has renewed the detention of the photojournalist Mohamed Al-hussainy Hassan for 45 days pending investigation. Mohammed has been charged with joining a terrorist group and spreading false news in the case number 915/2017.
