Mohamed Abdel Fattah Conditionally Released after 22-month Pretrial Detention

Giza Criminal Court ordered to release Mohamed Abdel Fattah with precautionary measures after he had spent 22 months of pretrial detention pending case 1149/2018.

Abdel Fattah is charged with promoting a terrorist action online, possessing a weapon, and spreading false news. It is worth noting that the state security prosecutor appealed Abdel Fattah’s release yesterday but the court rejected the appeal.

6 November 2018 

State Security Prosecutor appealed on Cairo Criminal Court’s decision to release Mohamed Abdel Fattah with precautionary measures pending case 1149/2018. Accordingly, Giza Criminal Court is to consider the appeal tomorrow.

Abdel Fattah is charged with promoting a terrorist action online, possessing a weapon, and spreading false news.
