Criminal Court Renewed for Ihab Helmy After Over 4 Months of Arrest

Cairo Criminal Court (Second Circuit Terrorism) renewed Ihab Helmy Amin Hussein’s detention for 45 days pending investigations in Case No. 4092 of 2024 (Supreme State Security).

Security forces arrested the defendant from his home on August 28, 2024, and he was held in an undisclosed location, unknown to his family and lawyers, until he was presented before the prosecution on September 3, 2024. The prosecution charged him with Joining a terrorist group with knowledge of its objectives, Publishing and disseminating false news and information that would harm public security and order, and using a social media account to publish and disseminate false news and information that would harm public security and order.

During the investigation, the prosecution presented him with a confiscated mobile phone, which he admitted belonged to him.
