Trader and Farmer’s Detention Renewed on Terrorism and False News Charges

The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of Ahmed Salah Afifi El-Sayed and Mahrous Kassab Shalaby Kassab for 45 days pending investigations, in Lawsuit No. 10709 of 2025 (State Security).
Security forces arrested Ahmed Salah on 18 December from a village in the Qalyoub district of Qalyubia Governorate, and they also arrested Mahrous Kassab from a village in the Shibin al-Qanater district. The two were later brought before the prosecution, which charged them with joining a terrorist group, publishing false news, participating in an unlawful assembly, and using a social media platform to commit a crime.

The Supreme State Security Prosecution, in its 23 December session, ordered the detention of Ahmed Salah Afifi El-Sayed and Mahrous Kassab Shalaby Kassab for 45 days pending investigations, in Lawsuit No. 10709 of 2025 (State Security).

Security forces had arrested Ahmed Salah on 18 December from a village in the Qalyoub district of Qalyubia Governorate, and also arrested Mahrous Kassab from a village in the Shibin al-Qanater district.
