The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the pretrial detention of Khaled Mostafa Mohamed Mohamed Abu Agla for 15 days pending investigations in Case No. 5211 of 2026 (Supreme State Security), over accusations relating to posts published on his personal Facebook account criticizing rising prices and the hardships of daily life.
Security forces arrested Abu Agla from his home on 22 June 2026 over posts he had published on Facebook in 2024 and 2025, in which he complained about rising prices and deteriorating living conditions. He remained detained in a location unknown to his family until he was brought before the investigating authorities on 29 June 2026. The authorities then questioned him on charges of using a social media account to promote the ideas of a terrorist group, and publishing and disseminating false news and statements that could undermine security and public order.
