The Cairo Criminal Court (Second Circuit) decided to adjourn the trial of Mohamed Khalil Saeed Ibrahim in Case No. 6052 of 2026 (First Nasr City Misdemeanors), registered under No. 302 of 2026 (New Cairo Full Criminal Court) and No. 1602 of 2025 (Supreme State Security Case Register), to 28 December 2026, to hear and question the first prosecution witness, the officer who conducted the investigations in the case.
Khalil is standing trial on charges of joining a terrorist group while knowing its purposes and committing one of the crimes of financing a terrorist group.
Security forces arrested him from his home in the town of El-Bagour, Menoufia Governorate, on 16 January 2025. He remained detained at an undisclosed location, without his family’s knowledge of his whereabouts, until he was brought before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on 23 July 2025. The Prosecution charged him with the aforementioned offenses and continued to renew his pretrial detention until he was notified of his referral to criminal trial on 20 April 2026.
His first trial hearing was held on 26 July 2026, during which the court read out the referral order in the presence of the defendants, who denied the charges against them. The court subsequently decided to adjourn the case until 25 October 2026 to request social assessment reports concerning some of the defendants.
