The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided, during its session on March 18, to release lawyer Osama Al-Shishtawy Fathi Al-Shishtawy, in connection with lawsuit No. 8448 of 2025 (Supreme State Security).
Al-Shishtawy had spent nearly five months in pretrial detention, having been arrested on November 20, 2025. over posts published on his social media accounts, in which he called for a protest in defense of an Egyptian lawyer who had allegedly been assaulted by Saudi security forces during Umrah, as well as another post alleging manipulation of the parliamentary elections. As a result, Al-Shishtawy faced charges of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.

The Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew the detention of Osama Al-Shishtawy Fathi Al-Shishtawy for 15 days pending investigation in Case No. 8448 of 2025 (Supreme State Security).
Al-Shishtawy was arrested on 20 November 2025 over posts on his accounts calling for a protest in defense of a lawyer assaulted by Saudi security forces during Umrah, as well as another post alleging manipulation of the parliamentary elections.
The prosecution began investigating the defendant on 23 November 2025 on charges of joining a terrorist group and spreading false news.
