The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of brothers Eid and Hassan Saber El‑Shazly for 15 days in case No. 4489 of 2026. The two had previously been listed in case No. 855 of 2020, in which they spent nearly three years in pretrial detention before being released.
They were arrested again in May 2026 from their home and remained detained for five days without legal basis before being brought before the prosecution. The charges against them include using a social media account to promote the ideas of a terrorist organization and broadcasting false news and statements harmful to public order and security, despite the fact that they were not confronted with any posts supporting these accusations.

The Supreme State Security Prosecution, in its session held on July 27, decided to renew the detention of brothers Hassan Saber El‑Shazly and Eid Saber El‑Shazly for 15 days pending investigations in case No. 4489 of 2026 (Supreme State Security).
The two brothers had previously been included in case No. 855 of 2020 and spent nearly three years in pretrial detention before being released. They were arrested again on 19 May 2026 at their home and held unlawfully for five days before being presented to the prosecution.
