The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of brothers Hassan Saber El‑Shazly and Eid Saber El‑Shazly for 15 days pending investigations in case No. 4489 of 2026 (Supreme State Security).

The two brothers had previously been included in case No. 855 of 2020 and spent nearly three years in pretrial detention before being released. They were arrested again on 19 May 2026 at their home and held unlawfully for five days before being presented to the prosecution. They are accused of using social‑media accounts to promote ideas of a terrorist organization and publishing false news and statements harmful to public security and order. It is noted that the prosecution did not confront them with any specific posts.
