The Court of Appeals for South Cairo Criminal Court ruled to accept the appeal form, and in the substance of the case, annulled the previous verdict against Khaled Galal Helmy, which sentenced him to one year in prison and fined him 3,000 EGP. The court then acquitted him of the charges in Case No. 2404 of 2024, Giza Red Crescent Criminal Court, registered under No. 1821 of 2024, South Cairo.
The South Cairo Criminal Court had previously sentenced Helmy in September 2024 to one year in prison and a fine of 3,000 EGP for possessing unlicensed ammunition. However, the appeals court decided to cancel the previous verdict and acquitted him in the hearing held on January 8, 2025.
It is noteworthy that Khaled Galal Helmy, a mosque servant from the Roud El-Farg area, was previously released in a prior case by a decision from the North Cairo Criminal Court in February 2024, where pretrial detention was replaced with a precautionary measure. However, this decision was not executed by the Roud El-Farg police station, where he was held until he was presented in a new case before the Red Crescent prosecution.
6 January 2025: Postponement of Mosque Servant Khaled Galal Helmy’s Case Due to His Absence
The 4th Circuit of South Cairo Criminal Court decided to postpone the hearing of Case No. 5858 of 2024, Criminal Appeal Court South Cairo, in Case No. 2404 of 2024, Giza Red Crescent Criminal Court, registered under No. 1821 of 2024, South Cairo, to the session scheduled for January 8, 2025, due to the defendant Khaled Galal Helmy’s failure to appear.
Helmy, 50 years old, is accused of possessing ammunition (a bullet used in firearms) without the necessary permit for possession or carrying.
The South Cairo Criminal Court had issued its ruling on September 16, 2024, sentencing the defendant to one year in prison and a fine of 3,000 EGP. It is also noteworthy that Khaled Galal Helmy, a mosque servant from the Roud El-Farg area, had previously been released in a prior case by the North Cairo Criminal Court in February 2024, where pretrial detention was replaced with a precautionary measure. However, the decision was not implemented by the Roud El-Farg police station, where he was detained until he was presented in a new case before the Red Crescent prosecution.

On February 27, the North Cairo Criminal Court released Helmy and decided to replace detention with a precautionary measure. However, Rowd Al-Farag Police Station did not implement the decision, and Khaled was detained in the department until he was presented with a new case.
Helmy is a 50-year-old mosque custodian from Sahel Rowd Al-Farag.

27 February 2024: The criminal court decided to release Khaled Helmy and replaces pretrial detention with precautionary measure
The Criminal Court (twentieth Circuit) decided to release Khaled Galal Helmy, pending investigations into lawsuit No. 1984 of 2021 (Supreme State Security Prosecution).
The court replaces pre-trial detention with precautionary measures as he is obligated to spend 2 hours per week at a police station.
On February 8, 2023, security forces arrested Helmy and added him to case no. 935 of 2023 (Rod Al-Farag misdemeanor).
Helmy faces charges of promoting verbally and in writing to disrupt the provisions of the constitution and the law, preventing a state institution from performing its work, attacking the freedoms of citizens, harming national unity and social peace, and joining a terrorist group.

3 October 2023 : Khaled Galal Helmy’s detention hearing adjourned to October 10
The Criminal Court (Second Circuit) adjourned to October 10, the detention hearing of Khaled Galal Helmy as it wasn’t possible to transfer him from prison to the court.
The security forces arrested Helmy on February 8 pending lawsuit No. 935 of 2023 (Rod Elfarag misdemeanor).

Today, the Criminal Court (the Council Chamber) decided to renew the detention of Khaled Galal Helmy for 45 days, pending investigations of lawsuit No. 935 of 2023 (Road Elfarag misdemeanor).
It’s noteworthy that Helmy was arrested on February 8, 2023.
