The Supreme State Security Prosecution renewed the detention of Mohamed Saqr for 15 days pending investigations in case No. 3383 of 2026 (Supreme State Security). Saqr was included in the case over Facebook posts, which the prosecution confronted him with, containing critical views of economic conditions and some criticism of the decisions issued by the Council of Ministers. He admitted ownership of the account that published the posts.

Saqr was arrested on 18 April 2026 while at a café near his residence and remained unlawfully detained for four days before being presented to investigators. He faces charges of using a social‑media account to promote ideas of a terrorist organization and publishing false news and statements harmful to public security and order.
